TAIKOPROJECT 25th Anniversary Concert

TAIKOPROJECT’s powerful drumming unites ancient Japanese tradition with 21st century American innovation to create a riot of movement and thundering rhythm. It’s been called a tsunami of sound but this highly charged ensemble is so much more. This show will ignite all of your senses with a spellbinding mix of music, theater and precision. The group received international acclaim when they became the first American ensemble to win the prestigious Tokyo International Taiko Contest. Since then, they have wowed audiences at the Academy Awards and the Grammys with their grace, energy and passion. TAIKOPROJECT first made waves when they became the first American taiko group to win the prestigious Tokyo International Taiko Contest in 2005, besting all of the Japanese taiko groups in the competition. That year, they were cast in the Mitsubishi Eclipse commercial, the first and still only national advertising campaign to prominently feature taiko. Since then, the group has performed on the 2009 Academy Awards, the 2011 Grammy Awards, NBC’s “The Voice,” Syfy’s Face/Off, The X-Factor, and were honored with the prestigious Visionary Award from East West Players. Toronto Jazz Orchestra

The Toronto Jazz Orchestra is an 18-piece big band ensemble founded in 1998 and led by Artistic Director and conductor Josh Grossman. The orchestra performs music by major jazz composers and Canadian writers and arrangers, with a repertoire spanning classic swing to contemporary jazz. The ensemble performs regularly on Toronto's jazz scene and at festivals and concert halls across Ontario.

A Brief History of Smoking Cigarettes is a one-woman show that traces Deanna's personal history with cigarettes alongside the global history of tobacco. The production uses puppets, live music, and video. It includes true stories, audience interaction, and explores themes of colonization, capitalism, and the commodification of natural resources. The show examines how the tobacco industry has influenced both global markets and individual lives.

International Guitar Night

International Guitar Night returns for a national Canadian tour in January and February 2027. The festival has maintained a presence in Canada for over two decades since its launch on the West Coast. The tour features acoustic guitarists performing Brazilian, Flamenco, Middle Eastern, and Gypsy jazz styles. The festival has a history of sold-out performances in Canadian theaters.

Shakura S’Aida is an acclaimed Americana roots-soul singer/songwriter, three-time JUNO Award nominee, and recurring actor on Schitt’s Creek. Brooklyn-born, Swiss-raised, and Toronto-based, she is celebrated for her powerful, soul-stirring voice and dynamic live performances that have captivated audiences in 31 countries. Her latest single, “Keep It Movin’,” follows her JUNO-nominated, Folk Canada Award–winning album Hold On to Love. A dedicated community builder for over 40 years, S’Aida also curates concerts and festivals through Shakura S’Aida Presents, creating meaningful connections between artists and audiences across North America and Europe.

Men Without Hats w/ Special Guests

Men Without Hats and Spoons perform at BPAC.
