Yassama and the Beaded Calabash

When the well in her village begins to dry up, Yassama must walk farther each day to fetch water for her family. She worries about the future of her village and whether she can save it from the drought that threatens them. With the help of an old Baobab tree and a mysterious beaded calabash, Yassama learns to understand the limits of the nature that sustains her. Blending African oral tradition, theatre, and dance, this is a timeless ecological and spiritual tale. More than a search for water, the story reveals the sacred bond between people and Mother Earth, celebrating perseverance, humility, and shared responsibility.

Family Day! – Samajam: YOU are the Show!

You are the musician. You are the creator. You are the show. This fully participatory musical experience invites the audience to actively perform throughout 90% of the show. The program combines interactive participation, musical learning, rhythmic challenges, video games, comedic sketches, and exploration of diverse songs and rhythms from around the world. Each attendee receives a Musical Bag containing three percussion instruments to play at key moments, building the collective rhythmic creation and musical progression. Everyone can participate, regardless of age, musical experience, or skill level. The show has been presented more than 1,500 times across 8 countries, with over 1 million tickets sold.

Shark Dive takes you through a vibrant world of sea life, culminating in a close encounter with one of the ocean’s most magnificent and misunderstood creatures: the shark. Come face-to-face with bull sharks, nurse sharks, and the majestic great white in a thrilling underwater adventure, brought to life through Erth’s exquisitely lifelike puppets. Both entertaining and thought-provoking, Shark Dive challenges audiences of all ages to rethink their relationship with the ocean. Shark Dive was created Erth Visual and Physical, one of Australia’s foremost theatre companies. It was originally commissioned for the Australian Museum and has been presented at the Australian National Maritime Museum, Sydney Festival and Brisbane Festival. Seven Australian acrobats and 30 metres of rope make up By a Thread heading to BPAC for one night only. Two industrial pulleys and a heavy-duty sailing rope are transformed by the cast of ‘By a Thread’ to create a mesmerising work of aerial circus. By a Thread weaves virtuosic acrobatics and intricate choreography through moments of confusion, hilarity, romance, playfulness, fear and friendship, uncovering the threads of connection present in all relationships. Fresh from touring in Europe, Canada and Asia, By a Thread redefines contemporary circus with inventive aerial acrobatics and a truly unique physical premise. This highly experienced ensemble have pooled their knowledge and skills to create a show where classic techniques are used in expansive ways, with the only prop onstage being 30 metres of white, cotton rope. The rope is a physical manifestation of the trust needed in any relationship, acrobatic or otherwise. The performers use this metaphor for community, to explore the give and take, balance, and dynamics of connecting with one another. This year, with the help of a new assistant, Ava returns to battle her former childhood friend and rival.
