Firefly Celebration - Family EDM glow dance party and campfire

Celebrate the health of our land and the start of Firefly season with EDM music and a campfire for all ages! Some people are surprised to discover that Summer Solstice is the mating season for fireflies! It's true, fireflies live in natural habitats in our beautiful city of Burlington for several weeks! Because fireflies are especially sensitive to disappearing habitat, we love to celebrate their annual mating dance and the health of our land. Join us for an evening of sweaty family dance fun to EDM music from @space.junk.djs , unlimited marshmallows around the campfire and the grand finale - a firefly walk - to celebrate this bioluminescent bug and learn how we can contribute to its continued survival. This is an outdoor event and in case of rain we will offer refunds or an opportunity to transfer to another firefly event if there is space. It will be dark enough to see lots of firefly action after 9:30pm. The firefly trail is uneven, a bit hilly and will remain unlit for the protection of the fireflies. The firefly walk is not suitable for people with mobility issues. Feel free to email info@bluedotacres.ca if you want to discuss how we might accommodate accessibility needs. Our produce stand will also be open for business - support local farmers and buy local!

Glow Wild Family Dance Party

Glow Wild is an all-ages dance party from 7:30–9:30 PM, followed by a firefly walk. The event runs until 10 PM. Attendees of all ages can dance to upbeat music in the outdoor space. Children must be accompanied by an adult. As the music winds down and the sky darkens, fireflies begin to emerge. After the dance party ends, guests are invited to follow a firefly path for a gentle walk through the walnut grove. The evening includes a campfire with marshmallows (weather permitting). Optional glow-themed activities are available as paid add-ons. Tickets are $15 per person and include entry to the dance party, a guided or self-paced firefly walk, and access to the campfire. Event: Saturday, June 27th, 7:30–10 PM. Music runs 7:30–9:30 PM.

Lido Pimienta with HPO: Concert in the Garden at RBG

Lido Pimienta, with Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra Hendrie Park, Royal Botanical Gardens, Burlington Tickets at rbg.ca/events/concert-lido-pimienta-with-hpo/ Lido Pimienta is a Toronto-based, Colombian-born musician, interdisciplinary artist, and curator. She has performed and exhibited her work around the world since 2002, exploring the politics of gender, race, motherhood, identity, and the construction of a Canadian landscape in the Latin American diaspora and vernacular. Pimienta has garnered multiple award nominations including a 2020 Latin Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album and a 2021 Grammy nomination for Best Latin Rock, Urban, or Alternative Album. RBG’s Concerts in the Garden series welcomes Juno-nominated and award-winning artists to perform in Hendrie Park this summer for unforgettable evenings of live music in a truly unique outdoor setting.
