The CPKC Holiday Train Stops in Milton and Hamilton on November 20
A train wrapped in holiday lights pulls into Milton at 5 p.m. on Friday, November 20, and a free concert follows. The CPKC Holiday Train makes its first two Ontario stops that evening, in Milton and then Hamilton, which are also the two closest stops to Burlington.
Milton's stop runs 5 to 5:30 p.m. at 5234 Kelso Rd., at the Glen Eden Ski and Snowboard Centre, with Magic! and MARIS performing. Hamilton's is later the same night, 8 to 8:40 p.m. at Kinnear Yard, opposite Gage.
The ask at every stop is a cash donation or a non-perishable food item, and everything collected stays with the food bank in that community. Since 1999 the program has raised more than $28.3 million and over 5.6 million pounds of food across Canada and the United States.
Performers on this year's trains include American Authors, Chase Rice, Madeline Edwards, Allen Stone, Jamie Fine, Shawnee Kish, Rafaëlle Roy, Tyler Shaw, Sam Roberts Band and Owen Riegling. The train runs through 182 communities in total before wrapping up on December 3.
One piece of housekeeping from the railway: stay 15 metres back from the tracks when taking photos or video, and never stand on the track or the ballast rock to get a shot.
