Winter Wonders Returns to Royal Botanical Gardens on November 26

Royal Botanical Gardens switches the lights on for Winter Wonders on Thursday, November 26, and Hendrie Park spends the following six weeks as an after dark walk through lights, festive music and seasonal displays. Several of the installations this year are built to be touched and played with rather than only looked at.

The route runs outdoors through the garden, with warm holiday treats along the way and an expanded lineup of craft vendors selling handmade gifts. Indoors at RBG Centre there is seasonal decor and plant displays in the Mediterranean Garden and Breezeway, the Botanical Train Display, and the gift shop.

Entry is timed, so you choose a half hour arrival window when you book and can stay as long as you like once you are in. Tickets are $22 for adults and $18 for children aged 3 to 12, before HST and a $2 online service fee, with RBG members paying $12. Most visitors spend one to two hours on the route.

A few things to know before you go. Hendrie Park closes at 4:30 p.m. on event days while crews get everything ready, pets are not permitted (service dogs excepted), outside food and drink cannot come in, and some areas of the garden use fast moving, bright lights. The event is held in most weather, though RBG can postpone or cancel for severe conditions and will email ticket holders if plans change.
