Burlington Summer Food Drive Collects Snacks for Kids
St. Matthew on-the-Plains Anglican Church has teamed up with the Burlington Food Bank and the Compassion Society to collect healthy snacks for local kids who go without school lunches over the summer.
The three groups are asking residents to donate juice boxes, cereals, fruit cups, pudding and other healthy snacks through the summer months.
Drop-offs are welcome at St. Matthew on-the-Plains on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Burlington Food Bank from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, and at the Compassion Society from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
The need does not pause for summer break, and a few extra items in the cart on a grocery run cover a lot of lunches.
