Spruce Avenue Closure At Shoreacres Creek Extended To December
The full road closure on Spruce Avenue at Shoreacres Creek is staying in place longer. The City of Burlington now expects it to run until the end of November or into December 2026. It is part of a rebuild of the Spruce Avenue area that also covers Goodram Drive, Shoreacres Place and Mackay Court.
The delay traces back to the watermain. Halton Region is replacing the watermain and the water service lines on Spruce Avenue, and that work has run into supply chain problems and conflicts with other utilities. Water services are now expected to be finished by the end of 2026, which pushes the road work on Spruce Avenue into 2027.
Parts of the project are done. Storm sewer, curb and sidewalk work is complete, street lighting and landscaping were due by mid September, and asphalt paving is scheduled for the end of September or early October. Anything still torn up gets a temporary fix for the winter.
Lane restrictions and short-term closures will come and go while the work continues, and the city says residents will still have access to their homes. Road works across the project area are expected to wrap in the spring or summer of 2027. The contract is with King Paving and Construction.

Spruce Avenue from Walkers Line to Goodram Drive, Goodram Drive from Spruce Avenue to New Street, plus Shoreacres Place and Mackay Court. City work covers asphalt, curbs, sidewalks, storm sewers and streetlights. Halton Region is handling the watermain.
