Three Niagara-Bound Skyway Lanes Closing Overnight Through September 4
Three of the four Niagara-bound lanes on the Burlington Skyway are closed overnight through September 4. The closures start at 9 p.m. and generally run until 7 a.m., which leaves a single lane carrying all Niagara-bound traffic during those hours.
The Skyway stays open the whole time. Eastport Drive also stays fully open and can be used to get back onto the Niagara-bound QEW, and every ramp at the Northshore Boulevard interchange remains open.
The closures are part of the rehabilitation of the Burlington Bay Skyway, a project that began in 2024 and runs to December 2026. The work on the 2.2 kilometre Niagara-bound bridge covers concrete deck repairs, waterproofing, drainage improvements, new asphalt and replacement of the concrete barrier walls.
This season's stage includes the middle lane of the bridge, structural concrete work underneath it, and final paving between Fairview Street and Plains Road and the south side of the bridge. Work on the approaches covers widening the QEW by one lane north of Northshore Boulevard, new overhead signs, better lighting and improvements to the Burlington Lift Bridge notification system.

The closures are weather dependent and can be changed or postponed. Check conditions before leaving and allow extra time for any late night or early morning trip toward Niagara.
