Green Angels Movie Night Returns To Hendrie Park This Saturday

You can watch a movie on the grass at Royal Botanical Gardens this Saturday. The screen goes up in Mitchell's Field in Hendrie Park and the film starts once the light drops, at the 6th annual Green Angels Movie Night on Sept. 19. This year's film is Hoppers.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the couple of hours before the movie are as much the point as the film. There is a DJ dance party, lawn games, a family friendly search and find with prizes, a caricature artist (that one costs extra) and access to RBG's Anchorball: A Curious Art Journey. A barbecue runs from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. with food for sale, and every ticket comes with free popcorn. The movie itself starts around 7:15 p.m.

Tickets are $27 for adults and $22 for youth aged 13 to 17, plus a $2 service fee. The money goes to RBG's Green Angels Program, which covers visits and programs for individuals and families who could not otherwise afford them.

Seating is on the turf, so bring a blanket or a cushion. Lawn chairs are allowed at the back, with the front kept for people sitting on the grass. It runs rain or shine, and if the weather turns the movie moves indoors to RBG Centre. Get there early and claim your patch of grass!
