Burlington Festival of Lights Adds a Signature Tree and a Home Lighting Tour
Decorate the front of the house well enough this year and it could end up on a map of the city. The Burlington Lions Club is running Burlington's Brightest Lights Tour alongside this year's Festival of Lights, and residents can apply to be an official stop on an interactive map of lighting locations. Applications close October 31, and one home will be crowned Burlington's Brightest and take a $1,000 prize package.
In Spencer Smith Park, the new focal point is a signature tree of 30 to 35 feet, the centrepiece of the park display. The festival runs November 27 to January 3 and opens with the tree lighting on November 27.
The lights are reaching further than the park this year. The Lions Club is working with partners including the Aldershot Village Business Improvement Area to bring displays to other parts of the city, and residents and visitors can check in at lighting locations for weekly prizes through the season.
"We want the Festival of Lights to be something every part of Burlington can see itself in," said Olivia Duke, president of the Burlington Lions Club. "The new tree gives us a place to gather in the park, and Burlington's Brightest Lights Tour puts the festival on streets and front porches across the city."
The Lions Club took the festival over in 2025, and both additions are part of a multi year plan for it. This is year 31.
