New Ethnic Supermarket Taking Over The Old Staples On Fairview Street

The old Staples at 1881 Fairview Street, beside the Mandarin off Brant, is becoming a grocery store. Ethnic Supermarket is fitting out more than 40,000 square feet of it and expects to open in late October or early November.

The chain already runs stores in Guelph and Milton. The Burlington one is being set up as a full shop rather than a specialty aisle: fresh produce, meat, seafood, pantry staples, snacks and beverages, alongside Asian groceries and specialty foods from cultures around the world.

There will be a food court on site as well, with prepared meals and somewhere to eat them. The company says it is building the store around product variety and competitive value, and there is parking for the plaza.

The exact opening date and the grand opening plans have not been announced yet. Both are expected closer to the launch.
