Burlington's New City Council Is Sworn In November 16

The people who will run Burlington for the next four years take their oath in public, and anyone can come and watch. The inauguration of the new mayor and city council is set for Monday, November 16 at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre, with doors at 5:30 pm and the ceremony starting at 6:30 pm.

Marianne Meed Ward will be sworn in as mayor for the third time in a row. The councillors taking their seats are Kelvin Galbraith, Sean Campbell, Mark Carr, Olivia Duke, Alex Don and Angelo Bentivegna.

The ceremony is the formal start of the term, following the finalised results of the municipal election. Residents who cannot get downtown can watch it online through the city's meetings page.

It is a short evening and a civic one, and it is also the last quiet night before the new council starts getting asked about the things it campaigned on.
