Early Childhood Educators Are in Demand Across Burlington and Halton

Child-care rooms across Burlington need staff, and so do the ones in Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills. Halton Region is making a push to get more people into early childhood education, a job that reaches further than most people picture.

Registered early childhood educators work with children from birth to age 12, in licensed child-care centres, kindergarten classrooms, before and after school programs and EarlyON Child and Family Centres. The Region also points to room to move later into leadership, family support and program development with more education or experience behind you.

Most people get in by finishing an approved early childhood education diploma or degree and registering with the College of Early Childhood Educators. Others qualify through an assessment of the education and experience they already have, which is the route that matters most for newcomers who trained in another country. Flexible study options and financial help may also be available.

Anyone weighing it up can read the pathways, the job openings and the supports on Halton's early learning and child care careers page.
