Burlington Extends Online Voting to Sunday After Ward 6 Mailing Error
Anyone in Burlington still meaning to vote online now has the weekend to do it. The city has moved the online voting deadline for the 2026 municipal election from Friday, October 23 to Sunday, October 25 at 8 p.m.
The extension came after a mailing error. About 5,000 Voter Information Letters never reached households in Ward 6, and that letter is exactly what an eligible voter needs to cast a ballot online. Ward 6 electors who had not received theirs were told to expect them by mail by October 21.
Anyone else still without a letter can call 905-335-7777, extension 8683, and have one issued directly. Voting in person does not require the letter at all. One piece of valid ID showing a name and address is enough at the polls.
In-person voting day is Monday, October 26, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Burlington voters are electing a mayor, six city councillors (one in each ward) and school board trustees, and the mayor and councillors also represent the city on Halton Regional Council.
Where to check
Online voting, the certified candidate list and voting locations all run through myvoteburlington.ca. The city says the online voting platform is hosted on secure servers in Canada.
