Four Players With Burlington Ties Named to Canada's Women's Worlds Roster
Four players with Burlington connections will be on the ice for Canada at the 2026 IIHF Women's World Championship, which starts November 6 in Esbjerg, Denmark. TSN carries the games at home.
Emma Maltais and Renata Fast are both back with the national team, returning after winning silver in Milan last winter. The other two are making their senior national team debuts.
Sara Manness grew up in La Salle, Manitoba, but Burlington hockey people know her from the Jr. Barracudas, where she put up 127 points in 46 games before moving on to Division 1 hockey at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. She already owns a gold medal with Canada from the U18 World Championships.
Kendall Cooper is from Oakville and played boys hockey with the Burlington Eagles up to her second year of Bantam. She appeared on the U18 team in 2019 and 2020, and she has since signed with PWHL Las Vegas, one of the clubs taking the ice for the first time this season as part of a four team league expansion.
Canada opens against the rest of the world's top programs on November 6.
