Tarun Nayar is a musician and biologist who creates ambient music from the bioelectric signals of plants and the earth's electromagnetic resonance, using modular synthesis and handbuilt analog equipment. Trained in Indian classical music from childhood, he applies the raga system to compose for specific times of day and seasons, drawing listeners into the present moment through vibration and connection to place.

His work has reached over 100 million video views and 1 million online followers, earning features in The Guardian, LA Times, BBC, Genius, Vice, The Verge, and DJ Mag. His albums have been supported on Spotify playlists including Music for Plants, Deep Listening, and Lava Lamp. Recent live performances include Art Basel Miami, MOCA Los Angeles, New York Botanical Garden, and Vancouver Art Gallery.

The 'Field Trip' project invites audiences to assemble in public parks, forage for plants and mushrooms, and then listen to music improvised from the bioelectric impulses of those collected specimens. Recent Field Trips have taken place in New York City, San Francisco, San Diego, Vancouver, and Toronto.

Tarun is committed to protecting wild places and directs the majority of proceeds from this project to environmental conservation.
