Good morning Burlington. Happy Wednesday!
Before we get started, we have something new to share.
🎉 Monthly Event Guides 🎉
Many of you took the time to fill out our year-end feedback survey (thank you), and we heard you loud and clear on one specific issue: events further out in advance. To give you time to plan ahead, and to make sure nothing is sold out, we are going to start releasing monthly event guides.
These guides will include all of the most anticipated events for the month ahead, with more detailed descriptions and pricing information. The guide, however, will not include every single event happening. You should continue to reference the newsletter for the smaller, day-to-day events, plus ones that might not have been posted yet.
All the events in the guide will also be included in the normal newsletters as their date approaches. You can expect our February Guide to land in your inbox tomorrow!
Here is what to expect in today’s issue:

We’re Burlington’s largest newsletter with over 10,000 readers.
Let’s work together.

🏗️ Two Key Investments Coming to Burlington
At her State of the City address, Mayor Marianne Meed Ward highlighted two projects she says matter most for Burlington’s future. One is the proposed redevelopment of 1200 King Road near Aldershot GO, a large site long restricted to industrial use. The current vision includes housing, employment space, recreation, an arena, and a hotel, all planned alongside transit and city services rather than after the fact.
The second focus is Mohawk College’s planned expansion into Burlington, anchored by a healthcare campus now in development. The goal is to train more than 1,200 health-care workers a year while strengthening local hospitals and employers. Together, the projects point to a city focused on jobs, education, and long-term planning rather than short-term wins.
🛍️ Toronto Premium Outlets Plans Big Expansion
Toronto Premium Outlets in Halton Hills is eyeing a major upgrade, proposing a 116,000-square-foot expansion that would add 25 new retail units and a four-storey parking garage. If approved, this would boost the mall’s total retail space by 14.5 per cent and increase its parking capacity to 3,551 spaces. Town staff are currently reviewing the site plan, which was officially submitted in May 2025.
There’s no word yet on which stores might move into the new units, but the outlets remain a go-to destination for shoppers across Halton, including many from Burlington, looking for deals on brand-name items. The proposal suggests construction could begin in late 2026 if approvals go smoothly.
🧁 A Fresh Chapter at Caked Coffee
Caked Coffee was created by Raman Gill and Supreet Arora, a husband-and-wife team who wanted to build something of their own while passing on the value of hard work to their daughter. The family-run bakery and coffee shop focuses on vegan desserts made without refined sugar, using small-batch recipes and natural ingredients that reflect how they choose to live.
After taking a short break from service, Caked Coffee recently shared on Instagram that they’re back. The pause gave them time to rework and perfect their recipes, and they’re excited to start sharing those updates with customers. Check out the Instagram announcement below. ⬇️

🐾 Pet Spotlight: Meet Sheldon
Sheldon is a gentle, affectionate cat who lost his home through no fault of his own. He loves attention and is happiest with the simple things: a soft place to rest, calm voices, and someone nearby. He’s the kind of companion who settles in quietly and makes a space feel warmer just by being there.
Sheldon has feline leukemia, and while there’s no cure, he’s feeling well right now and enjoying his days. What he needs most is someone willing to love him for however long that may be. If you have room in your heart and home for a special cat, Sheldon is ready to meet you.
