🚒 Plans for New Downtown Fire Station
Burlington is taking early steps toward a possible new downtown fire station as growth continues in the core. The city has proposed $119,000 in the 2026 budget for preliminary planning, even though no site has been chosen and there is no public process yet for what is being called Fire Station 9.
City documents point to long-standing fire master plans that flagged the need years ago. For now, the focus is on keeping options open as downtown density increases, with funding levels and timelines still uncertain.
🧥 Arc’teryx Now Open at Mapleview
Mapleview has a new store for shoppers looking to invest in serious winter clothing. Arc’teryx, a brand known for technical outerwear designed for cold, wet, and rugged conditions, is now fully open after months of construction.
The shop carries insulated jackets, shell layers, base layers, and other cold-weather gear often used for skiing, hiking, and outdoor work. Located near Shoppers Drug Mart, it adds another premium retail option at the mall as Burlington heads deeper into winter.

🌿 Support Grows for Crawford Lake
Halton Regional Council has thrown its support behind a funding application aimed at upgrading the visitor centre at Crawford Lake. The plan focuses on modernizing the aging building while keeping the structure and character of the site intact.
Councillors pointed to the lake’s national and international importance, both for its rare ecology and its role in telling Indigenous and Canadian history. If approved, the funding would help extend the building’s life and reduce emissions while improving the visitor experience.
