🛒 Mystery Grocer Eyes North Burlington
North Burlington could soon see a new grocery store move into the old Toys R Us at Appleby and Dundas. An application has been put forward to convert the space, with no major changes needed to the building.
The chain’s name is still a secret, but council will vote next week. If approved, the store would bring fresh energy to the area and give locals another spot to shop.
🚉 Weekend GO Train Disruption Ahead
Heads up for Lakeshore West riders: there will be no GO Train service between Oakville and Exhibition on Saturday, Sept. 13 and Sunday, Sept. 14. The pause is to allow for important track work that will improve future service.
If you’re traveling that weekend, be sure to double-check schedules before heading out, as service will look a little different than usual.
🏡 Burlington Home Prices Slide
In August, the average home in Burlington sold for $1.08 million, down 3.1 per cent from July and almost 9 per cent lower than last year.
Even with lower prices, the market was busy. Sales jumped nearly 40 per cent compared to last August, and there were more listings for buyers to choose from. Detached homes averaged $1.4 million, while condos were closer to $597,000.

🥫 Charities Can Apply for $100K Food Aid

Canadian charities are being invited to apply for a share of $500,000 in funding from iA Financial Group, with up to $100,000 available per project. The contest focuses on tackling food insecurity, which now affects about 16 per cent of households in Ontario.
Groups can submit ideas until October 12, 2025. Last year, Food4Kids Halton was one of the winners, showing how local organizations can make a big impact.
