Together with Blue Zone Courts
Burlington’s Premier Pickleball & Padel Spot
We recently asked what you thought about pickleball. Out of 192 votes, 41% said you’ve never played but you’re curious, and 25% said you already play.
To the curious newcomers: we hear you. Starting a new sport can feel intimidating, and that’s exactly why we built our Blue Zone Starter Pack for just $59. It includes a one-hour lesson with one of our pros, followed by four beginner-friendly play sessions so you can ease into the game alongside others at the same stage. Our coaches meet you where you’re at, teach fundamentals patiently, and have helped countless complete beginners fall in love with the game.
At Blue Zone Courts, age truly isn’t a barrier. We have players in their 80s tearing up the court against people half their age. We always place a strong focus on warm-ups, injury prevention, and on-site rehab. Not ready to play yet? You’re always welcome to stop by and watch.
For more experienced players: our community is welcoming, inclusive, and always happy to see new faces. If you haven’t tried Blue Zone Courts yet, it’s worth a shot.
Hope to see you out there,
Joyce, Co-Founder of Blue Zone Courts

👑 The 7 Kingdoms of Burlington

A new Game of Thrones prequel, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, has just come out. Set about 90 years before the original series, the show follows Ser Duncan the Tall and his young squire Egg as they journey across Westeros, running into knights, kings, and classic Targaryen drama.
To celebrate its release, we are imagining Burlington neighbourhoods as their own “Seven Kingdoms”. Which Kingdom are you a part of?
❄️ Kingdom of the North (Alton Village)
Chilly outskirts with snowdrifts taller than castle walls capture Stark resilience. Parents trek through blizzards for dawn hockey, their minivan direwolves ready to conquer Hamilton traffic.
⛰️ Kingdom of Mountain and Vale (Headon Forest)
Escarpment heights mimic the Eyrie, with cul-de-sacs offering noble overlooks. Locals sip lattes while judging the chaos of Plains Road far below their winding streets.
🏞️ Kingdom of the Isles and Rivers (Aldershot)
Bay marinas and creeks breed Ironborn spirit for daily Toronto raids. Commuters return laden with takeout plunder, sump pumps holding back watery betrayals.
🪨 Kingdom of the Rock (Roseland)
Gleaming estates and luxury garages scream Lannister wealth. Taxes flow like gold, landscapers toil endlessly, and home values roar louder than any lion's pride.
🌳 Kingdom of the Reach (Orchard & Millcroft)
Green spaces, golf courses, and carefully curated gardens put these areas squarely in the Reach. Weekend warriors roam in polos, defending their honor at Millcroft Golf Club and local plazas stocked with every possible soccer snack.
⛈️ Kingdom of the Stormlands (The Lakeshore during a storm)
When bad weather rolls off Lake Ontario, Lakeshore becomes the Stormlands with angry waves, sideways rain, and cyclists braving gusts like Durrandon knights. Dog walkers advance along the waterfront, unshaken by wind, goose attacks, or surprise hail.
☀️ Principality of Dorne (Downtown & Spencer Smith)
Sun-soaked patios, festivals at Spencer Smith, and waterfront strolls give this zone pure Dornish flair. Here, paramours share tapas and craft cocktails, unbowed, unbent, unbroken by Ribfest crowds or Sound of Music parking chaos.
🛴 E-Scooter Pilot Returns This Spring
Burlington’s e-scooter pilot will be back on Centennial Trail this spring after a short first season last year. Over 115 days, more than 2,100 riders took about 5,500 trips, mostly between downtown and Appleby GO, showing steady interest despite the late summer start.
Community groups say the program is promising but needs work. Lower costs, added bike options, and a longer season could make it more useful for everyday travel, not just weekend rides.
🎟️ Cineplex Brings Back $5 Tuesdays
Cineplex’s $5 Tuesday deal has returned across Ontario, including at Oakville locations, running now through February 24. Moviegoers can grab general admission tickets and small popcorns for just $5 each, making it a $20 night out for two or $40 for a family of four, when buying in-theatre.

🚕 Neon, Rugs, and Inflatable Chevys
Four towering inflatable Chevy Malibus greet visitors at the Art Gallery of Burlington, but they are only one part of Roda Medhat’s immersive exhibition. The gallery is filled with glowing neon works, LED rugs, video pieces, and a massive handwoven tapestry that stretches across the wall, all working together to shape the space.
Much of the show was created specifically for this room and plays with scale, softness, and spectacle. Drawing on Kurdish cultural references and everyday materials, Medhat invites visitors to slow down and look closer. Things I Can Fold, Deflate, and Break runs through April 26.
🐶 Pet Spotlight: Meet Spirit!
Spirit is a one-year-old pup with lots of playful energy who loves to run, explore, and play. She does well with other dogs, though she can be a little nervous if she feels cornered, and does best with gentle introductions and space. With people, she may be shy at first but warms up quickly and shows her affectionate, loving side.
She has good house manners, asks to go outside, and handles crate time well for a few hours. Like many young dogs, she’s still learning what’s okay to chew, but she redirects easily and is eager to learn. Spirit would thrive in a patient, loving home ready to help her grow into a confident companion.
