🍽️ Taste of Burlington Returns this Month
Taste of Burlington is a two-week, city-wide food event where some of your favourite local restaurants offer special set-price menus. From Jan. 26 through Feb. 8, more than 40 restaurants will serve curated meals that highlight their standout dishes. It’s a great way to try new spots at a good value during a typically slower winter period.
New this year, diners can use a free digital Taste Trail pass. Visit at least three participating restaurants and check in to be entered to win prizes like a waterfront hotel stay, show tickets, or dinner for two. At its heart, Taste of Burlington celebrates local food, supports restaurants, and invites people to explore the city’s dining scene.
🎭 Masquerade Ball for a Good Cause
Tickets are now on sale for The Venetian Ball, a formal masquerade fundraiser in support of Halton Women’s Place. The event takes place Feb. 21 at the Oakville Conference Centre and includes a seated dinner, entertainment, and a theme centred on strength and resilience behind every mask.
Funds raised will support local emergency shelters and outreach programs for women and children escaping intimate partner violence. It is a chance to enjoy an elegant evening while directly helping neighbours in our region who need safety, support, and a fresh start. Tickets are $225 or table options are available as well.
🍎 Orchard Road, 53 Years Ago
A Burlington reddit user shared this image of Orchard Road (pictured in the bottom left) at Upper Middle back in 1973. The road has since become a trail connecting to the surviving street inside the Orchard neighbourhood.
A very different sight compared to today!

🏒 Nominate Burlington for Kraft Hockeyville
It is officially your chance to step up and nominate your Burlington rink for Kraft Hockeyville, a national program that helps communities improve the local arenas that bring people together. Since 2006, the initiative has invested $5.4 million into 105 Canadian communities, supporting rink upgrades and keeping neighbourhood hockey alive across the country.
This year marks the program’s 20th anniversary, and the prize pool has been tripled. For the first time, there will be 13 winners across provinces and territories, with funding awards ranging from $50,000 to a $250,000 grand prize. A strong nomination could mean real improvements for Burlington rinks and a chance to celebrate how much hockey matters here. Nominate your rink here.
🏛️ Your Stories Belong in the Museum
Burlington Museums are inviting residents to help shape two upcoming exhibits by sharing local photos, objects, documents, and personal stories. The goal is to add a Burlington lens to travelling exhibitions, making them feel more rooted in the community and reflective of the people who live here.
Contributions are being sought for stories about Burlington women in STEM and for local food and restaurant history. Even items shared after an exhibit opens can support online features and future displays, helping preserve everyday stories that might otherwise be lost. You can submit a story here.
