🦁 Lions Club Closes Summer with Sale
The Aldershot Lions Club is wrapping up the season with a community garage sale on Saturday, September 13, at the former Holland Park Garden Gallery lot on Fairview Street. Shoppers can expect plenty of bargains and friendly conversations, while vendors set up booths with unique finds. It’s a cheerful way to spend a Saturday and support a group that continues to give back to Burlington.
🍂 Fall Home and Lifestyle Showcase
Burlington Centre is hosting its Fall Home and Lifestyle Show on September 20 and 21, offering two days of shopping, giveaways, and seasonal inspiration. Visitors can browse everything from wellness products to home décor while connecting with local service professionals. With special offers and a lively atmosphere, it’s a perfect chance to enjoy a fall outing and bring home fresh ideas for both comfort and style.
💰 City Has Money Leftover
Burlington staff are projecting a $2.1-million surplus in the 2025 operating budget, with higher recreation revenues, staff vacancies, and investment income outweighing costs from snow clearing and lower planning fees. If confirmed at year’s end, the extra funds are expected to be directed to reserves, giving the city more financial flexibility to handle future challenges while continuing to support local services and community needs.

🎬 Burlington’s Brennan Clost Shines in New Film
Burlington’s own Brennan Clost, a Nelson High grad and Juilliard-trained dancer, has stepped into a new role as both star and producer of Loathe Thy Neighbour (trailer above). Filmed in Bruce County in just seven weeks, the story follows his character’s move to a family farm and a tense feud with a neighbor played by Lauren Holly.
The movie premiered at TIFF, fulfilling a longtime dream for Clost, who grew up performing at Burlington’s Sound of Music and Ribfest. Now playing in theatres, the film highlights both his Canadian roots and his growing impact in the entertainment industry.
🚴 Abbey’s Ride Across Canada

On September 12, Burlington’s Callum Norris will begin cycling from Vancouver to Central High School in memory of his late partner, local artist Abbey Maguire. The journey, called Abbey’s Ride, will raise funds for Abbey’s Foundation, which provides scholarships to Central students pursuing the arts, a dream Abbey expressed before she passed away earlier this year after a battle with cancer.
Norris hopes to raise more than $25,000 as he rides across Canada, with friends and family joining along the way. The effort not only honours Abbey’s passion for art but also builds a lasting legacy of support for future students, keeping her spirit alive in the community she loved.
