Together With Burloak Indoor Golf!

Hey Burlington 👋

Sean Casey here, founder of Burloak Indoor Golf.

When I opened this place, the goal was to create one of Canada’s most complete one-stop shops for indoor golf. A space built for performance, but just as much for hanging out and having fun. We’ve got 12 TrackMan simulators, a full short game area, pool tables, dart boards, a licensed restaurant, a full pro shop with fittings and repairs, plus on-site rehab, all supported by one of the largest teams of PGA professionals in the country.

The space is also available for private bookings and events, and it’s been a great fit for birthday parties, corporate events, team socials, and group nights out where people can golf, eat, drink, and hang out all in one place.

We offer various options depending on what you’re looking for, from renting out the entire facility to booking a dedicated section for your group.

If you’re an Burlington Digest reader, I’d love for you to experience it yourself. Send me a message at [email protected] with what event you would like to host, mention you were sent from the newsletter, and I’ll take $100 off your event booking.

🌲 A Summer Job In The Park

Ontario Parks just announced that they are now hiring for summer student roles across the province, with positions ranging from gate staff and maintenance to Discovery Rangers who lead programs and share park stories. It’s a chance for recent graduates of ages 15+ to spend the summer outdoors, build confidence, and gain real work experience in beautiful places.

Some students may choose to stay close to home at Bronte Creek Park, while others head farther north for a true summer adventure. Pick up to five parks and several roles, and apply early through the Ontario Public Service GoJobs site under “Student Summer Jobs at Ontario Parks.”

🏙️ A Tall Ask On Plains

source: burlington.ca

A proposed 25-storey building on Plains Road is already drawing questions at City Hall. The early concept includes hundreds of units, limited parking, and no confirmed affordable housing component, leading one councillor to question whether the plan benefits the city.

The proposal is still at a very early stage, with no formal application submitted yet. More studies and public meetings would be required before any decisions are made, giving residents time to learn more and share feedback.

📚 BPL’s Bookmark Contest

The Burlington Public Library’s annual Burlington Bookmarks Contest is back, inviting locals of all ages to design a bookmark inspired by a favourite book. It’s a simple, creative project that’s especially fun for kids, teens, and families who love reading together.

Winning designs are printed and shared at all library branches, tucked into books across the city. Submissions are open until February 23, making this a nice mid-winter excuse to slow down, get creative, and celebrate the stories we love.

🏫 Burlington Teacher Earns National Recognition

Heather Howell, a Special Education Resource Teacher at M.M. Robinson High School, is being recognized on a national stage. She is one of six educators across Canada to receive the Governor General’s History Award for Excellence in Teaching, an honour that celebrates excellence across a wide range of history-related endeavours.

The award highlights Howell’s Heritage Garden Initiative, a program she led at Ireland House Museum. Through hands-on gardening, students with developmental disabilities explored how food was grown and preserved in Burlington’s past, worked with local artifacts and primary sources, and donated their harvest to the Burlington Food Bank. The program helped students build confidence, practical skills, and a deeper connection to local history.

🏃‍♂️ Kilts And Cold On Brant

Downtown Burlington saw plenty of kilts and tough spirits on Sunday as runners took on the annual Robbie Burns Run in biting cold. With temperatures around –10°C, runners of all ages bundled up and braved the winter air for a fun, festive race that’s become a local tradition, even on the coldest days.
