Let’s work together.

Arts Burlington Spring Sale 🎨

The Art Gallery of Burlington will once again fill with creativity as the Arts Burlington Spring Sale returns April 18-19, running 10am-5pm each day.

With free admission and parking, the event features more than 100 local artists across six guilds, offering everything from pottery and photography to jewellery, textiles, and woodworking.

Organized by Arts Burlington, the sale reflects a year-round creative community rather than a one-time market. Visitors can connect directly with artists, explore a wide range of original work, and support local talent in a setting that highlights both craftsmanship and community.

Seed Library Returns 🌱

Burlington Public Library is helping residents kick off gardening season with the return of its popular Seed Library.

Now open for 2026, the program offers 32 varieties of flowers, vegetables, and herbs, making it easy for both new and experienced gardeners to get growing.

With a library card, visitors can pick up to three seed packages per family at any branch while supplies last. The initiative encourages gardeners to learn the full growing cycle, from planting to seed saving, helping build a collection of plants suited to Burlington’s conditions.

Running For Council? 🗳️

If you’ve ever considered running for office, Halton Region is offering a chance to learn what the role really involves before taking the leap.

A virtual session on April 21 from 6-8:30pm will bring together Burlington, Oakville, Milton, and Halton Hills to give residents a clear look at life on council.

The session features municipal solicitor John Mascarin and former elected official Kelly Linton, covering responsibilities, time commitments, and the realities of public service. With the municipal election set for Oct. 26, it’s a practical first step for anyone thinking about getting.

📰 More News

Local Traffic Concerns 🚗

A full house at the Art Gallery of Burlington showed just how top-of-mind traffic has become, as residents gathered for the city’s first community forum on congestion.

Hosted by councillors Lisa Kearns and Paul Sharman, the session brought together local leaders, transit officials, and residents to unpack growing gridlock concerns tied to highway disruptions and population growth.

With limited control over highways like the QEW, the city is focusing on reducing local car use through transit and new options like on-demand buses and e-scooters.

One idea includes partnering with Argo, an app-based electric shuttle service that picks riders up nearby and connects them to transit hubs for a standard bus fare, helping solve the “first mile, last mile” gap.

King’s Baton Event 🏅

Burlington’s waterfront will take centre stage May 6 as the King’s Baton Relay stops at Spencer Smith Park on its way to the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The 11am-12pm event will feature a Scottish tribute and celebrate the city’s deep connection to the Games through founder M.M. Robinson.

Robinson, a Burlington resident, launched the original British Empire Games in 1930, laying the foundation for today’s global competition. Organizers say the local stop, the only one in Halton and Peel, will also include student programming and community initiatives, tying Burlington’s history to an international sporting tradition.
