Burlington Digest DINNER CLUB 🍽️

A few months ago in our 2025 year-end survey, we pitched the idea of a dinner club where you could meet new people and try new restaurants here in Burlington, and the support was off the charts!

So it’s official, we are announcing our first ever Burlington Digest Dinner Club! It’s time to gather around the table, meet your awesome neighbours, and eat some great food.

When: Tuesday, April 21st @ 6:30PM
Where: multiple restaurants around Downtown Burlington

How it works:

✦︎ Take a quick quiz about your interests, food preferences, and what types of people you are looking to meet. We use the results to match you to 5 others at your table.

✦︎ Receive your invite the morning of the dinner and discover which downtown restaurant your group will be eating at.

✦︎ Dinner time will be on Tuesday, April 21st at 6:30 PM. After dinner, all tables will be invited to a designated spot to keep the good times rolling. This after party is optional, so if you’re in a food coma, you can go home and sleep it off.

The Logistics: The booking fee is $15.99 per seat, you pay for your own meal at the end of dinner, and we put it all together from the quiz, to matching, to the reservations, and sending reminders. All you gotta do is show up, meet some new friends, and have some fun.

P.S. We already hosted our first one in Oakville last month, check it out here.

Burlington Lands FIFA Event ⚽

Burlington will officially be part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup celebrations, landing a spot on a new nationwide “Canada Celebrates” program with a Community Activation set for July 9, timed with the quarterfinals.

The announcement confirms the city’s earlier push to host a FIFA Caravan stop, an effort that saw council approve plans to invest $160,000 and position Spencer Smith Park as a potential waterfront hub for the event.

While FIFA has now selected Burlington, key details remain unclear, with organizers still expected to outline programming closer to May. Earlier plans suggested a one-day fan experience with live music, a game viewing party, and youth soccer activities, all aimed at drawing visitors and boosting local businesses.

For now, the city knows it’s in, but exactly what will fill the waterfront is still to be decided.

Calling All Burlington Artists 🎨

Burlington is putting out a call to local artists to help create a new public art piece at the Alton Community Centre, with a $50,000 budget tied to the space’s recent renaming.

The installation will sit on the terrace near the entrance and is meant to reflect the identity of the growing Alton community.

Artists are being asked to submit proposals outlining their vision and experience, with a focus on community input as part of the design process.

The deadline is May 15, with an artist expected to be selected in early June and the final piece unveiled in October. A nice opportunity for a local artist to leave a lasting mark in one of Burlington’s busiest neighbourhood hubs.

BPL’s Outdoor Play Collection 🌞

Image from BPL

Burlington Public Library is making it easier to get outside this season with the launch of its expanded Outdoor Play collection.

Available with a Burlington Public Library card, the collection now includes warm-weather gear like pickleball sets, badminton, bocce, golf clubs, and even kids’ archery kits, all free to borrow from the Alton branch.

The program builds on a popular winter rollout and is designed to keep things simple, no deposits, no reservations, and a 7-day loan period for up to three items. Whether it’s a backyard game or a park day upgrade, it’s a low-effort way to try something new without buying the gear first.

Not a bad excuse to swap some screen time for sunshine.

DTBY Building Future Leaders 💪

Burlington-based Dare To Be Youth is celebrating a strong first year of its Leader Within mentorship program, with participants finishing the program more confident, connected, and ready to lead.

Running from April 2025 to March 2026, the initiative paired local youth with mentors to build leadership and communication skills.

Organizers say many participants have already stepped into leadership roles at school and in the community, and the program is set to continue this year. To keep the momentum going, DTBY is hosting a pickleball and networking night this Saturday at Blue Zone Courts.
