🏙️ Neighbours Invited to Weigh In on Plains Road

Source: burlingtontoday.com
A new proposal is stirring conversation in Aldershot. Brydec Developments is considering an 11-storey residential building at the corner of Plains Road East and Gallagher Road, right across from Holy Rosary School. The site is currently home to two detached houses, but the developer is eyeing 119 units with shared amenity space for future residents.
Before any formal application is filed, Weston Consulting is hosting a virtual meeting on Monday, October 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. This is a chance for neighbours to hear details, ask questions, and share concerns about the project. If you live nearby or simply care about how Plains Road is changing, this could be a good time to listen in and lend your voice.
🎶 Hopeful Plans for Sound of Music 2026
The Sound of Music Festival team says next year’s event is still under discussion, but there’s reason for optimism. With Toronto hosting FIFA World Cup games in 2026, organizers see a chance to connect with new audiences and partners, bringing fresh energy to the long-running festival.
Festival leaders and the Burlington Chamber of Commerce are exploring creative ideas to ensure the event’s future. The message is clear: Sound of Music still has plenty of songs left to sing.
✨ REVEL Party Brings Back the ’70s
The Art Gallery of Burlington is marking its 50th anniversary in style this fall with the return of REVEL. On Friday, November 7, the gallery will transform into a glamorous ’70s-themed party, complete with interactive art, local food, and even a Drag Queen performance to keep the energy high.
Guests can also look forward to live entertainment, a silent auction, and exhibits that celebrate both creativity and community. Proceeds will support AGB programs, making this sparkling night of fun a way to give back, too.

💛 A Bright Yellow Bench of Hope

Source: burlingtontoday.com
Burlington Pier now has a new splash of colour with the unveiling of a bright yellow bench dedicated to mental health awareness. The bench, marked with the message “You are not alone,” is meant to spark conversations, encourage kindness and remind residents that support is always within reach. With its sunny colour chosen to symbolize energy and hope, the bench offers more than a place to rest. It is a gentle call to connect.
🌳 Honouring Spencer Smith at the Park
A new historical sign has been unveiled at Spencer Smith Park, finally giving proper recognition to the man behind Burlington’s beloved waterfront. Members of local heritage groups and councillor Lisa Kearns gathered to celebrate the marker, which sits near the gazebo at the foot of Brant Street.
Spencer Smith, once a grocer and president of the Burlington Horticultural Society, transformed a muddy lakeside into the park we know today. His vision of beauty and community continues to shape the heart of downtown.
