With its sunny colour chosen to symbolize energy and hope, the bench offers more than a place to rest. It is a gentle call to connect.

A new historical sign has been unveiled at Spencer Smith Park, finally giving proper recognition to the man behind Burlington’s beloved waterfront. Members of local heritage groups and councillor Lisa Kearns gathered to celebrate the marker, which sits near the gazebo at the foot of Brant Street.

Spencer Smith, once a grocer and president of the Burlington Horticultural Society, transformed a muddy lakeside into the park we know today. His vision of beauty and community continues to shape the heart of downtown.
