🎭 Pinocchio Brings Holiday Cheer to Theatre Burlington
Theatre Burlington is rolling out its annual family show, and this year’s pick is a playful, homegrown take on Pinocchio. Local director Tyler Collins leans into simple sets and lively music, letting kids use their imaginations while a cast of actors and musicians brings the carnival setting to life.
The one-hour show runs Nov. 29 to Dec. 14, with two performances each afternoon. Tickets are $15, and little ones are welcome to grab a spot on the floor up front. It’s a cozy way to ease into the season with something lighthearted and local.
🌉 Two Ireland Park Bridges Nearing Their Next Steps
Ireland Park’s two closed pedestrian bridges are slowly moving toward reopening, though on different timelines. The Folkway Drive bridge ran into unexpected shale and supply delays, pushing completion to late December. Crews should be back at it soon, and the path through that part of the park will feel a lot more connected once it’s done.
The second bridge, behind St. Timothy’s School, remains shut after being deemed unsafe this summer. The city hopes to move its replacement into the 2026 budget, with design work planned for spring and construction targeted for next summer. It’s a long process, but both projects aim to keep these well-used routes safe for everyone who walks the park.
🛠️ Prospect Street Work Brings Temporary Detour
Prospect Street will close between Brant and Pearson from Nov. 24 to Dec. 19 as crews upgrade the sanitary sewer and watermain. It’ll be a bit of a slowdown for anyone who uses that stretch, but the work should help keep things running smoothly for years to come.
Detours will be marked, so getting around should stay manageable. If you’re curious about the project, the city’s renewal page has more details.

🌟 Key to the City for a Rising Star
Victoria Mboko’s big year came home in a special way this week, when she received the key to Burlington at the new community center. Folks here have followed her climb closely, and seeing her celebrated not just as a champion but as a neighbor felt especially meaningful. Her run in Montreal still lingers like a shared memory across town.
What stood out most, though, was how much Victoria spoke about Burlington itself. She talked about growing up here, the support she’s felt, and her hope to help create more opportunities—starting with a simple wish for more public tennis courts.
