🎶 The Brant Inn’s Glamorous Legacy

Source: burlingtontoday.com

Before Spencer Smith Park became Burlington’s lakeside landmark, the waterfront was home to the Brant Inn, a nightclub that once drew some of the world’s biggest stars. From the 1920s through the 1960s, names like Duke Ellington, Liberace, and Guy Lombardo performed here, while diners and dancers filled the famous Lido Deck and Sky Club that stretched out over Lake Ontario.

The Brant Inn wasn’t just entertainment, it was a place where Burlington glittered on the map, attracting visitors from Toronto, New York, and beyond. With its mix of live music, fine dining, and even Miss Canada pageants, it became a glamorous destination before closing in 1969. This story was carefully researched and written by Jennifer Kemp, a Burlington Historical Society volunteer with a lifelong passion for preserving our city’s history.

🌿 Volunteers Needed at Hidden Valley Park

Conservation Halton is seeking volunteers on Wednesday, September 17 to help remove invasive plants from Hidden Valley Park, a hands-on effort to boost biodiversity and protect the creekside ecosystem. All tools and gloves will be provided, and by rolling up your sleeves for a few hours, you’ll be helping native plants thrive, improving water quality, and keeping this cherished Burlington green space healthy for the future.
