Top 5 Burlington Areas Quietly Rising in Value

Everyone knows Burlington’s most established neighbourhoods - but some of the biggest opportunities are in areas that are still undervalued today.

Here are five I’m watching closely:

  • Aldershot (West End): GO access, lake proximity, and ongoing redevelopment are driving steady demand.

  • Mountainside: Larger lots and more affordable entry points are attracting young families and renovators.

  • Brant Hills: Strong schools and a family-friendly feel, still priced below comparable areas.

  • South Aldershot / LaSalle: Limited inventory near the water continues to support long-term value.

  • Plains Road Corridor: Rapid transformation with new mixed-use developments, shops, and improved transit access.

What these areas have in common: lifestyle appeal + future growth potential + relative value today.

The buyers who win long-term aren’t just chasing what’s popular - they’re identifying where demand is heading next.

If you’re thinking about buying or investing in Burlington, I’m happy to share specific opportunities in these pockets.

Bar Origin Set For June 🍽️

Chef Claudio Aprile, 7 time MasterChef Canada Judge

Celebrity chef Claudio Aprile is bringing a new restaurant to downtown Burlington, with Bar Origin set to open this June at 399 Elizabeth St.

The former Sunset Bistro space is being refreshed ahead of launch, marking a return to one of Aprile’s earlier Toronto concepts, now reimagined for a more casual, approachable dining experience.

Aprile, also behind Di Mario’s Trattoria, said Burlington felt like the right fit after years working locally. The new spot will seat about 80 indoors, plus a lounge and patio, with a menu mixing familiar favourites like the Origin burger with new surprises. A well-known name landing steps from the lakefront should give the downtown food scene a fresh boost just in time for patio season.

🗑️ New Garbage and Green Bins

Halton Region is rolling out wheeled garbage and organics carts to all homes by 2028, ending years of pilot testing. The shift aims to standardize waste collection across the region and improve efficiency.

Residents currently using bags will transition to the new cart system over the next few years. The change follows successful pilot programs that tested durability and resident feedback.

The Region says the carts reduce spillage, keep wildlife out, and make collection easier for crews. Specific rollout timelines for Oakville neighbourhoods will be announced as the program scales up.

Recycling blue bins will remain unchanged under Circular Materials Ontario, and any move to cart-based blue bins likely will not be considered until contract renewals around 2030 or 2031, leaving residents with a split system for several more years.

Lakeshore Festival Lineup Update 🎶

Instagram post

The Lakeshore Music & Arts Festival has unveiled its first wave of performers for this summer’s waterfront event at Spencer Smith Park.

Headliners include Walk Off the Earth and Katie Tupper on Saturday, followed by The Trews and The Dirty Nil on Sunday, with more than 30 additional artists still to be announced.

Set for June 20-21, the festival will run 11am to late evening each day, featuring multiple stages, food trucks, local vendors, and family activities alongside the music. With VIP tickets already on sale and a strong hometown lineup taking shape, Burlington’s lakefront is gearing up for a busy start to summer.

Centro Market Closing After 14 Years 🥕

Burlington’s beloved Centro Market is shutting down after nearly 15 years, with organizers confirming it won’t return for the 2026 summer season.

Held at Centro Gardens, the Sunday market became a go-to spot for fresh produce, meats, flowers, and a strong sense of community built by founders Barry and Leslie Imber-Aske.

In a heartfelt announcement, organizers thanked vendors, shoppers, and supporters including the Burlington Downtown Business Association and councillor Lisa Kearns.

Many locals shared memories online, calling the market a true community hub where small businesses thrived and neighbours connected, showing how much a simple Sunday tradition can mean.

Smile Cookies Aim For $200K 😊

The Burlington Food Bank is aiming to raise $200,000 through this year’s Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign, running April 27 to May 3.

All $2 Smile Cookies sold at 25 Burlington Tim Hortons locations will go directly to the food bank, building on last year’s $173,000 total.

The push comes as demand keeps rising, with more than 40,000 Burlington residents supported in 2025 and new clients signing up every day. Many are working families and youth, making this week-long campaign a key source of funding to keep food programs running across the city.
