Let’s work together.

Host a Street Party 🎉

Here’s something worth knowing as the weather continues warming up, Burlington is offering residents up to $500 to help fund neighbourhood street parties and local get-togethers.

Through the Love My Neighbourhood program, residents can apply once per year and get reimbursed after their event for eligible expenses.

It is not just the funding either. The program also includes free three-hour rentals for city parks and spaces, no-cost road closure permits, and access to things like barricades, insurance, and staff support. It takes a lot of the hassle out of planning, especially if you have been thinking about getting the whole street together.

New Development Faces Pushback 🏗️

rendering of the proposed 11-storey building on Brant Street

City staff in Burlington are urging councillors to reject a proposed 11-storey, 93-unit rental building on Brant Street, saying it is simply too large for the site.

The land is currently zoned for six storeys, and staff say the jump in height and density does not fit with the surrounding area.

Parking is another key issue. The proposal includes just 68 spaces instead of the required 116, using mechanical stackers that could lead to cars lining up onto Brant Street. Staff also say the building leaves little room for proper spacing or landscaping next to nearby townhomes. Council will review the recommendation April 14.

Healthy Planet Opening Up 🌿

Healthy Planet, a fast-growing Canadian retailer focused on natural foods, supplements, and wellness products, is opening a second location in Burlington this summer.

The new store at 1510 North Service Rd. is set to open June 5 and will be the company’s 44th location across the country.

The shop will offer everything from fresh produce and groceries to vitamins, supplements, and sports nutrition, all in one place. For Burlington, it adds another convenient stop for residents looking to stock up on health-focused essentials closer to home.

📰 More News

HLF Supports Local Students 🎒

Halton Learning Foundation has spent more than two decades helping students across Halton succeed by covering basic needs many families struggle to afford.

Working closely with the Halton District School Board, the charity steps in quietly, funding essentials like winter clothing, school supplies, and other costs so students can focus on learning.

Demand is rising, with about one in eight students in the board now coming from low-income households. The foundation supported roughly 3,700 students in 2025 alone, and expects that number to keep climbing.

As April marks its annual awareness month, the push for community support is growing, with efforts already underway to keep that help flowing where it is needed most.

Volunteer With Burlington Soccer Club ⚽

Burlington Soccer Club is looking for volunteers to support its Embracing Ability Summer Program, which helps children with developmental and physical disabilities take part in soccer.

The program runs May 28 to July 23 at Sherwood Forest Park, with volunteers playing a key role in creating a safe and welcoming on-field environment.

Participants are paired with volunteers and coaches to build skills, confidence, and friendships through sport.

Volunteers must be at least 13 and attend a May 8 training session, with a strong commitment through the season. It is the kind of program that shows how a few extra hands can make a big difference on the field.
