New Gathering Spot Opens at La Salle Marina

Source: burlingtontoday.com

La Salle Marina in Aldershot now has a welcoming new community space, thanks to a $20,000 project led by the Aldershot Village BIA and the city. The area features a covered picnic table, Muskoka chairs, and a wheelchair-accessible base, creating a cozy waterfront spot for locals to relax and connect.

At the ribbon cutting, Mayor Marianne Meed Ward and Councillor Kelvin Galbraith praised the space as a symbol of community spirit and collaboration. Residents celebrated with coffee, cake, and conversation, marking a bright new chapter for the marina.

🎶 City Seeks Ideas for 2026 Waterfront Festival

Burlington is planning a refreshed waterfront music festival at Spencer Smith Park, set to launch in 2026, and residents are being asked to help shape it. The city wants the event to stay true to its community roots while evolving to reflect local values like inclusiveness, sustainability, and creativity.

A public survey open until November 17 invites feedback on what the new festival should look and feel like. City officials say the goal is to keep the waterfront buzzing with music, connection, and community pride for years to come.

🌶️ Red Cap Hot Sauce Feeding the Community

Burlington’s Red Cap Hot Sauce Co. is spicing things up for a good cause through a new partnership with Second Harvest, Canada’s largest food rescue organization. Until December 31, every bottle of Red Cap Peppa Sauce sold will provide a meal to someone in need, turning a local favourite into a source of community nourishment.

Founded by Sanathan Kassiedass and inspired by his family’s Trinidadian recipe, Red Cap is known for its “flavour first, heat second” approach. By blending bold taste with heartfelt purpose, this local brand is proving that a little sauce can make a big difference.

🥫 Burlington Students Build Art That Feeds Families

Burlington Centre came alive with creativity as students from Aldershot and Notre Dame high schools transformed thousands of canned goods into imaginative sculptures for the Burlington Food Bank’s annual Canstruction event. Designs ranged from a pirate ship to a coral reef, each built entirely from non-perishable food items that will soon help local families in need.

More than 3,000 cans were used, creating about 1,000 meals for the community. Students combined lessons in science and art to craft moving displays with powerful messages about hunger, sustainability, and global connection, proving that creativity and compassion can go hand in hand.
