Burlington’s newest Chipotle Mexican Grill opened Thursday morning at Appleby Line and Dundas, drawing a crowd of about 20 eager customers. The first 50 in line received Chipotle Bluetooth speakers, adding to the excitement.

Staff say the new spot brings “food with integrity” to the busy north-end corner, joining nearby burrito favorites like Burrito Boyz and Guac Mexican Grill. Burlington now boasts two Chipotle locations.

Burlington Transit is gathering public input for its 2026 to 2030 strategic plan through an online survey and community meetings running until November 7. The new plan follows five years of record ridership, with 3.64 million trips taken in 2024.

Staff hope residents will share ideas to help improve routes, schedules and services as the city continues to grow. More transit updates are expected later this fall.

Burlington’s own Emma Maltais is joining Hockey Canada and Planet Fitness in a new partnership encouraging Canadians to stay active. Alongside teammates Natalie Spooner and Emily Clark, Maltais hopes to inspire people of all fitness levels to embrace healthy habits and find joy in movement.

She says staying active is part of her daily life, from workouts to walks with family and friends. Visitors to Planet Fitness locations will now spot Maltais and other Hockey Canada stars featured in “activation points,” showing workouts inspired by the pros.

Burlington’s Bekah Lee has been named the OCAA Women’s Soccer Player of the Year, capping off an inspiring comeback after ACL surgery last fall. The Seneca Sting midfielder spent months rebuilding her strength through training and physiotherapy before returning to the field for her fifth and final college season.

Lee’s hard work paid off with multiple awards, including OCAA All-Canadian and East Division Defensive Player of the Year. A proud Burlington Bayhawks and Notre Dame High School alum, she credits her early coaches and community for their support. Now studying emergency services dispatch, Lee hopes to join the OPP soon while continuing to inspire others with her resilience.
