🏠 Market Update With Kiani & Co

Burlington Real Estate Market Update - February 2026

Burlington’s real estate market continues to show strength this year, especially compared to many surrounding cities.

The average sold price increased by 1.7% year-over-year, reaching $1,066,177, which is an important sign that Burlington home values remain strong despite a shifting market. The number of homes sold was slightly down by 2.6% compared to last February.

At the same time, new listings dropped by 17%, meaning fewer homes are coming to market. With inventory not increasing as quickly as it did last year, Burlington is in a seller’s market, currently sitting at about 3 months of supply.

Homes are taking longer to sell. The average time on market is now 51 days, up 121% year-over-year, giving buyers more time to evaluate their options and negotiate.

New Chicken Spot In Town 🍗

A new fried chicken restaurant is getting ready to open in Burlington.

Mega Chicken is planning to open this March at 2201 Brant St., Unit 15. The restaurant will focus on fried chicken that’s buttermilk brined and hand battered.

According to the business, the goal is simple: crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with a menu built around classic fried chicken flavours.

The spot says it hopes to bring people together over good food and bold flavours. An exact grand opening date hasn’t been announced yet, but the new location is expected to welcome its first customers sometime this month.

A New Theatre Season 🎭

Theatre Burlington has announced its 2026–27 season, and for the third year in a row the lineup will feature only Canadian plays.

The season opens in September with Icemen by Vern Thiessen, followed by the family production Sleeping Beauty by Burlington playwright Vic Hyde.

In winter, the theatre will stage How Could You Mrs. Dick, a mystery based on the 1940s Hamilton torso murder case. The season wraps up next spring with the comedy Five Alarm by Kristen Da Silva, along with the annual Playtime festival featuring short plays by local artists.

One other change this year: evening performances will now start a bit earlier, with a 7:30 p.m. curtain time.

Support For New Housing 🏘️

Burlington council has given final approval to a new supportive housing project in Aldershot after several residents spoke in favour of it.

The plan will see Indwell build a 74-unit development on Waterdown Road. The non-profit will lease the land for 55 years and provide housing for people living on government assistance or below the poverty line.

Supporters at council said the organization has a strong track record helping people stay housed and improve their health and stability. The city’s contribution to the project will come through land support valued at about $5.6 million, funded through the federal Housing Accelerator Fund.

Three Olympians, One Family 🛶

One Burlington family is being recognized for an incredible Olympic legacy.

The Oldershaw family, spanning three generations of paddlers, will be honoured as part of the Burlington Sports Hall of Fame’s 2026 class.

Bert Oldershaw competed in three Olympic Games between 1948 and 1956 in sprint canoe and kayak. His son, Scott Oldershaw, followed with his own Olympic appearance in 1984 and later went on to coach multiple Canadian Olympic teams.

The tradition continued with Scott’s son, Mark Oldershaw, who won bronze in the C-1 1000 metre canoe sprint at the 2012 London Olympics.

The family will be officially inducted during the Hall of Fame ceremony on May 26.

Big Meet At Centennial Pool 🏊

Centennial Pool was packed last weekend as the Burlington Aquatic Devilrays hosted the largest meet in the club’s history.

The 2026 Spring Invitational brought in 547 swimmers, filling every session and creating what organizers described as a pool buzzing with energy.

Devilrays swimmers also had strong performances, with athletes across all age groups posting impressive results. Many of the club’s 10-and-under swimmers recorded personal bests during what is their first full competitive season.

The event capped off a busy year for the volunteer-run club, which has been building momentum through competitions, team events, and partnerships with local organizations.
