💘 Burlington’s Most Romantic Restaurants

OpenTable has just released its Top 100 Romantic Restaurants in Canada for 2026, based on hundreds of thousands of diner reviews, and two Burlington spots made the cut:

Isabelle Restaurant and Lounge was one of the two restaurants recognized. Located inside the Pearle Hotel & Spa, is known for its lake views and Mediterranean-influenced menu. A great spot to take your time enjoying your meal and your company.

The other Burlington spot recognized is DiMario’s Trattoria, a long-running Lakeshore Road fixture. With delicious Italian cooking, a well-used wine list, and a dining room that feels familiar rather than formal, it’s a place many diners already associate with date nights and anniversaries.

Quick shoutout to Cucci Ristorante in Oakville for being the only other Halton restaurant on the list.

🏊 Spring & Summer Sign-Ups

Burlington’s spring and summer recreation registration opens this week, bringing a full season of options for kids, teens, adults, and older adults. Families can start planning for youth camps, swimming lessons, and other seasonal programs, while adults can look ahead to spring activities that get people moving, learning, and connecting.

There are some new program categories this year, plus expanded fee assistance to help more residents take part. Whether you’re hoping to keep kids busy, stay active yourself, or just try something new, it’s not too early to start planning ahead.

🐰 Adopt a Rabbit Month

February is Adopt a Rabbit Month, and right now all rabbit adoption fees are waived at the Humane Society of Oakville, Milton & Halton.

It’s a chance for local families to consider welcoming a rabbit into their home while helping animals who are ready for a fresh start. The shelter is home to rabbits of all ages and temperaments, each waiting for the right match.

🐈‍⬛ Pet Spotlight: Meet Lisa!

Lisa is a sweet, gentle girl who has spent much of her young life caring for others. As a devoted mama, she raised her babies with love and patience, and now it’s finally her turn. Shy at first, Lisa blossoms with gentle reassurance and quiet affection.

She’s looking for a patient, kind human who will help her grow in confidence and treat her like the princess she truly is. At 3 years and 8 months old, Lisa dreams of a safe, loving home where she can finally be cherished and adored.

🚒 Burlington’s New Fire Chief

photo from City of Burlington

The City of Burlington has announced that Deputy Fire Chief Drew Boys will step into the role of Fire Chief later this month, following the retirement of longtime chief Karen Roche. The appointment comes after a competitive hiring process and keeps leadership close to home, with Boys already serving in a senior role within the Burlington Fire Department.

With more than two decades in fire services across Burlington and neighbouring communities, Boys brings deep operational experience and a steady hand. City leaders say his background in emergency response modernization and public safety planning positions him well to guide the department through its next chapter, while building on the strong foundation already in place.
