🎄 Burlington Legion Holiday Market
The Burlington Legion is bringing festive cheer with its annual holiday market and food drive on Sunday, Nov. 23, hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary. Running from 10am-3pm at 828 Legion Rd., the event features local vendors, a bake table, raffle prizes, and a hot lunch, with Santa making a special appearance from 11am to noon.
Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to support the community food drive. A great chance to shop local, enjoy homemade treats, and support a good cause all in one stop.
🌟 Festival of Inner Lights Shines Bright
Burlington’s own 100 Seeds of Joy is hosting its 10th annual Festival of Inner Lights on Tuesday, November 25, at the Art Gallery of Burlington. The free evening of music, meditation, and community will feature singer and speaker Rachelle Jeanty, who once toured with Céline Dion.
Guests will enjoy a guided meditation on self-realization and connection. The group will also launch Her 16 E.M.Powers, a 16-day online workshop series promoting healing, confidence, and leadership.
🎖️ ‘We Will Remember Them’ in Burlington
Burlington’s annual Remembrance Day ceremony will return to Veteran Square on Tuesday, November 11, with a moving procession, military vehicles, and a flypast of vintage Harvard aircraft. The parade begins at 10:30 a.m., leading to the cenotaph beside City Hall for the 11 a.m. service.
Two armoured carriers once used in Afghanistan will lead the march, while the Harvard flypast will honour aircrew who trained across Canada during the Second World War. Residents are encouraged to attend or watch the livestream to pay tribute to those who served.

🏠 BCF Launches New Housing Support Fund

Source: burlingtontoday.com
The Burlington Community Foundation has kicked off a new Housing Support Fund to help local families facing housing insecurity. Running from November 5 to December 31, the campaign aims to raise $50,000 for two vital organizations, Wesley and Shifra Homes, both providing shelter and stability to families in Halton.
Wesley operates the region’s only emergency family shelter, while Shifra Homes supports young mothers and babies. With an initial $25,000 lead gift already secured, BCF hopes community donations will create a lasting fund to strengthen housing supports across Burlington.
👻 Legend and Legacy at Burlington Cenotaph

Burlington Historical Society Photo
The Burlington Cenotaph, first erected in 1922 near the lake, now stands proudly by City Hall as a tribute to local soldiers lost in war. Its bronze soldier, names of the fallen, and new Veteran Square designation all honour the city's deep military roots and community remembrance.
But alongside history, legend lingers. Some claim the statue moves under full moons, its eyes glowing and footsteps echoing, tied to the spirit of Alfred Johnson, a local soldier killed in Dieppe in 1942. Jennifer Kemp of the Burlington Historical Society dives into this rich blend of fact and folklore with thoughtful detail.
