Together with Back to Basics Swim Academy
Swimming lessons that actually teach.
Not crowd management. Not entertainment. Real instruction — every single lesson.
Most kids spend months in lessons without meaningfully improving. It’s not the child — it’s the environment. Classes too large. Instructors rotating every few weeks. Pools too loud to hear a correction.
Back to Basics was built around a single idea: a child only progresses when the instructor is genuinely focused on them — and walks into the next lesson knowing exactly where they left off.
Max 3:1 ratio — often 1:1 or 2:1
Same instructor, every single lesson
Quiet, focused pool environment
Kids & adult lessons available
No forced session blocks to buy in
One $15 registration fee — nothing hidden
Measurable skill progression, tracked
Spring session starting March 21st
Spots are filling — book now for spring

Let’s work together.

Kelseys Says Goodbye 🍽️

A familiar spot in north Burlington has closed after over a decade of service.
Kelseys at 4511 Dundas St. wrapped up its final day on Sunday, ending more than 13 years in north Burlington. It originally ran as a franchised location before being renovated and reopened as a corporate store in 2013.
There is currently no update on what business may move into the soon-to-be-empty location. If you are still craving it, there are two other Kelseys locations in Burlington on Wyecroft Road and at Burlington Mall.
Spring Art Sale is Back 🎨
That annual Arts Burlington spring sale is coming around again, and it is a big one this year.
The event is celebrating its 54th year, bringing together more than 100 local artists and craftspeople. It runs April 18 and 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Art Gallery of Burlington on Lakeshore Road, and admission is free.
You can expect a mix of pottery, photography, fine art, sculpture, weaving, and more, spread throughout the gallery.
Some artists will be there in person too, which makes it a nice chance to chat and see how their work comes together.
Walkers Line Spring Update 🚧
Big changes are coming to Walkers Line, with a major road renewal kicking off this June. The first phase runs from North Service Road to south of Dundas and is expected to wrap up the initial stretch by mid-November.
The project brings new protected bike lanes, plus road resurfacing, sidewalk and curb replacements, drainage work, and lighting upgrades. It’s part of a broader push to make the corridor safer and more connected.
Safe Streets Halton says it’s a step in the right direction, but they’re still concerned about safety at major intersections and highway ramps, where risks remain higher.
More details, including timing, should come after the contract is awarded in May, with a public meeting planned for April.

St Paddy’s Day Recap 🍀
St. Patrick’s Day brought a lively, citywide celebration to Burlington, with pubs and restaurants across town filled with people dressed in green and enjoying the day together.
From live music and packed tables to groups of friends and families gathering, the atmosphere carried from one spot to the next. Places like The Black Bull, The Black Swan, The Poacher, and Gator Ted’s all played a part in the celebrations.
If you missed it or just want to relive it, the full photo gallery highlights some of the best moments from across Burlington.
Calling Young Artists 🎨
If you’ve got a creative student at home, this one’s for you.
The Art Canada Institute’s student challenge is back, and it’s all about creating an original piece of art inspired by Canada. That could mean painting, drawing, or mixed media, based on themes like landscapes, sports, daily life, portraits, or even designing your own symbol of Canada.
It’s open to grades 7 to 12, and selected students will have their work shown at Art Toronto this fall, plus a chance at cash prizes.
Deadline to submit is April 30, so there’s still time to get started.
