Host a World Cup Watch Party! ⚽

The World Cup officially starts tomorrow, and Burlington is encouraging residents to celebrate.

The city is offering $500 grants to residents who want to organize World Cup watch parties, street soccer tournaments, or international potlucks this summer through a new Soccer in my Neighbourhood program.

The grants come with free three-hour rentals of city facilities, no-cost road closure permits for select streets, and support from city staff. It's a soccer-themed spin on the existing Love My Neighbourhood program, which funds community gatherings across town.

Volunteer Fair Returns in August 🙋

The Burlington Volunteer Fair is coming back August 22, giving nonprofits a chance to connect with potential volunteers and residents a one-stop spot to find local causes.

The event runs 10am to 1pm at St. Christopher's Church on Guelph Line. It's co-hosted by Open Doors, the City of Burlington, and Volunteer Halton.

Up to 35 nonprofits can register for a table to showcase their volunteer needs. Registration costs $25 for Community Development Halton members and $60 for non-members.

Organizers are encouraging groups to post opportunities on Volunteer Connector ahead of the fair to reach even more people.

Classic Cars Fill Brant Street 🚗

Classic car enthusiasts lined Brant Street over the weekend for the annual car show, bringing out vintage vehicles and drawing crowds of admirers.

The event turned downtown Burlington into an outdoor automotive museum, with collectors showing off everything from muscle cars to vintage European imports. Families walked the displays, swapped stories about dream cars, and snapped photos alongside gleaming chrome bumpers.

It's become a summer tradition for the neighbourhood, kicking off the season with engines rumbling and nostalgia running high.

Pet Spotlight: Meet Jimbo 🐱

Jimbo is a sweet and affectionate 1-year, 8-month-old boy looking for a loving home.

He has lived happily with other cats and would likely enjoy having a feline friend. Jimbo can be a little shy at the shelter, but once he feels comfortable, his gentle and loving personality shines through. He enjoys attention and is sure to become a loyal companion to the lucky family who adopts him.

With a little patience and kindness, Jimbo will quickly settle in and show just how wonderful he is. Could this handsome boy be the perfect addition to your family?
