Together With Poolside Swimming!

Why Poolside Swimming is your 1st choice in backyard Swimming Lessons

Poolside Swimming has been the trusted name in backyard swim lessons and lifeguarded pool parties since 1993. Over three decades, we've built a reputation for safe, supportive instruction that meets each swimmer where they are.

We work with swimmers of every age and ability, from toddlers taking their first splash to adults building confidence in the water. Our instructors have particular experience teaching swimmers with special needs, including sensory, developmental, and physical, and many families come to us specifically for that expertise.

Lessons are personalized because every swimmer learns differently. Whether sessions are at your home or ours, you get instructors who bring real skill and genuine care to the work.

Our certified lifeguards extend that same standard to private events, so you can host your gathering and actually enjoy it.

Thank you for thirty years of trust. We look forward to the next thirty.

Film Fest Kicks Off in June 🎬

The 13th annual Oakville Festivals of Film & Art runs June 17 to 27 across Oakville and Burlington, screening over 100 Canadian and international films. Most showings are in Oakville, but Burlington gets the official kickoff event on opening night.

The launch happens Wednesday, June 17 at 7pm at Burlington Performing Arts Centre. Called "Kickoff: The Beautiful Game on Screen", the evening explores how soccer connects communities around the world, with freestyle soccer acrobatics, live performances by Dennis Thompson and friends, trivia, door prizes, and photo ops with soccer heroes.

A selection of films will also stream online during the festival. The full lineup is posted at on the OFFA website,

Burloak Closed Through June 1 🚧

A stretch of Burloak Drive between Harvester/Wyecroft and Prince William Drive is closed through Monday, June 1 as Metrolinx works on its grade separation project. The closure started Thursday and affects the road, sidewalk, and bike lane.

Crews are bringing train tracks into service on the newly built rail bridge and will continue building the new roadway underneath. The project is part of the push for more frequent two-way, all-day GO service on the Lakeshore West Line.

Once finished, the rail-over-road underpass will let trains pass through without stopping traffic below. Signage is directing drivers along detour routes.

Pride in Nature at Mountsberg 🌳

Conservation Halton photo

Conservation Halton is kicking off Pride Month with a day of inclusive activities at Mountsberg Conservation Area on Saturday, May 31.

The event runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes themed exploration experiences, a Pride Activity Zone, and 'Birds of ALL Feathers' programming, all covered by regular park admission. Visitors can also pick up a Pride in Nature Fun Pack with a pollinator seed kit, meal ticket, t-shirt, and access to a tie-dye station.

Mountsberg is located at 2259 Milburough Town Line in Milton, just outside Burlington.

Burlington Student Wins $50K 🏆

Evan Budz / Supplied Photo to BurlingtonToday

Evan Budz, a 15-year-old from Burlington, just took home $50,000 at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix for an AI-powered robotic turtle that hunts microplastics in waterways.

His design pairs a custom camera with a self-propelled body that can spot plastic particles smaller than a red blood cell with 94 percent accuracy. He beat out 1,700 students from 65 countries to win the Gordon E. Moore Award for Positive Outcomes for Future Generations.

Budz, a student at Frank J. Hayden Secondary School, says the prize money could go toward further development of the turtle. A huge congrats to the bright young student!

Smile Cookies Raise $163K 💝

Burlington's Tim Hortons locations raised $163,861 for the Burlington Food Bank through last month's Smile Cookie campaign, enough to buy food for three months and serve up to 7,000 local households.

That translates to about 15,000 people, with 30 per cent of them under 18. The food bank spends roughly $65,000 a month just on food purchasing, a number that's climbed as gas prices push up the cost of everything else.

Executive director Christina Mulder says the partnership lets the organization plan ahead instead of scrambling month to month. "We really do not know what we would do without this," she told a crowd at the cheque presentation.
