Let’s work together.

🚶♀️ Drury Lane Pedestrian Bridge Opens
The Drury Lane pedestrian bridge officially opened, giving people an easier and safer way to cross the rail corridor connecting Drury Lane to Orpha Court. City leaders, Metrolinx staff and local representatives gathered for a small ceremony, taking the first walk across the span and marking the end of a long-awaited project for this part of Burlington.
For neighbours who use the area every day, the bridge feels like a simple improvement that will make getting around a little smoother. It links two busy pockets of the city and offers a clearer path for walkers, cyclists and commuters heading to nearby destinations.
🛴 Winter Pause for Trailside Scooters
The e-scooters are off Centennial Trail for the season, giving the city time to sift through the first year of data and figure out what worked. Folks from Safe Streets Halton say the idea is promising but worry the current fees keep some riders away. They’re hoping the winter break leads to a fairer setup next spring.
For now, the trail feels a little quieter without those green Scooty bikes zipping by. If the pilot returns with smoother pricing and clearer insights, it could make next summer’s rides easier for both casual riders and everyday commuters.
🎄 Tree Lighting Evening in Aldershot
Aldershot’s Village Tree Lighting is set for Saturday, Nov. 22, with the Christmas market opening at 3 p.m. at 335 Plains Road E. There’ll be hot chocolate, hot dogs, and a chance to look around the stalls before everyone gathers for the tree lighting at 6.
They’re collecting food for the Burlington Food Bank, and the first 50 donors get a Domino’s coupon. Santa’s also expected to stop in and lend a hand with face painting for the kids.

🍪 Cookies Making a Difference This Week
Holiday Smile Cookies are back at Tim Hortons, and this week they’re supporting Community Living Burlington. Folks gathered at the Burloak Drive shop on Monday to start things off, hoping the fundraiser will help keep programs running that aren’t covered by provincial funding. Those include day trips and community activities that bring people together in simple, meaningful ways.
Raising $50,000 in seven days is a tall order, but Burlington usually rallies when it counts. You could feel that spirit in the room, from longtime staff to the mayor helping decorate cookies. It’s an easy way to pitch in and a tradition that fits the season.
📚 Library Charts a Community-First Path
Burlington Public Library has shared a new two-year plan that leans into connection and community life. After years of changes like eliminating late fees and opening more Maker Spaces, the focus now shifts to bringing neighbours together through events and creating spaces that feel welcoming and flexible for however people want to use them.
Behind the scenes, the library is also looking to streamline how it works so staff can spend more time helping visitors. Leaders say the goal is simple: keep shaping a library system that reflects what Burlington needs today while staying true to its role as a place for imagination, learning and shared experience.
