Burnt Tongue Hits Burlington 🍽

Burnt Tongue Hamilton
Hamilton favourite Burnt Tongue is heading to Burlington, bringing its rotating soup menu and comfort food lineup to a new crowd. The restaurant shared the news on Instagram this week, confirming the expansion as its second move beyond Hamilton, where it already runs three locations, plus one in Dundas.
The post notes a planned opening in Summer 2026, but stops short of naming a location or firm date, leaving a few details still under wraps.
Known for its seasonal soup lineup alongside burgers, sandwiches, salads, and fries, the spot has built a loyal following, and Burlington diners can expect that same casual, cozy vibe when doors open.
Runner's Den Opens Downtown 🏪
Runner's Den is set to open a new location at 466 Brant Street, with doors expected to open as soon as this month. The shop expands beyond its original Westdale location in Hamilton, giving Burlington runners a new go to spot right in the downtown core.
More than a retail store, Runner’s Den is known for connecting local athletes through group runs, clinics, and coaching support.
The new space takes over the former Millenium Jewellers storefront, bringing a steady stream of runners to Brant Street before long.
Nisan Joins Mayoral Race ⚖️
Ward 3 Councillor Rory Nisan has thrown his hat into the ring for Burlington's mayoral race, pitching a platform centered on affordability, fiscal responsibility, and quality of life. The announcement comes as Ontario's municipal elections heat up.
Nisan, who has served Ward 3 on council, says the city needs a new approach to tackle rising costs and maintain livability for residents. His entry sets up what's shaping into a competitive contest for the mayor's chair.
With the campaign now underway, Burlington voters will have a chance to weigh Nisan's vision against other candidates vying to lead the city. The race promises to spotlight local priorities as residents head to the polls this fall.

Bateman Centre Opens Doors 🎉

Burlington officially unveiled the revamped Robert Bateman Community Centre over the weekend, marking the grand opening of a 200,000 sq. ft. hub packed with new amenities.
The space now houses the Appleby Branch of the Burlington Public Library, programs from Brock University, Tech Place, and three gymnasiums, all under one roof.
City leaders, including Mayor Marianne Meed Ward, joined community partners to celebrate the launch. The upgrade also brings major efficiency improvements, from bird friendly windows to hundreds of LED fixtures, turning the longtime site into one of Burlington’s most versatile indoor spaces.
