🛣️ Weekend Lane Closures on the Skyway

If you’re heading toward Niagara this weekend, expect major overnight lane closures on the Burlington Skyway. Starting tonight, October 24 at 10 p.m., two left lanes on the QEW, Niagara-bound, will be closed until early Monday morning, October 27 at 5 a.m., weather permitting.

This work is part of the ongoing bridge rehabilitation, including asphalt and concrete repairs. The project continues through 2026, so drivers should plan for periodic closures and extra travel time.

🎭 A Sweet and Saucy Start for Theatre Burlington

Theatre Burlington kicks off its new season this weekend with The Birds and the Bees, a cheeky comedy about love, loneliness, and life’s awkward second chances. Running Oct. 24, 25, 31 and Nov. 1, the show promises laughter, a few blushes, and some heartfelt moments in between.

Featuring a strong local cast, this playful farce mixes sharp wit with surprising tenderness. If you’re craving an evening of fun, it’s worth checking out.

📘 Burlington Author Pens Global Thriller

Burlington’s own Richard Ross is back with The Cobalt Conspiracy, a fast-paced mystery that jumps between Canada and Florida while keeping its heart close to home. The story follows a young reporter uncovering secrets at a new electric vehicle plant, weaving journalism, intrigue, and a touch of danger.

Known for his James Macrae trilogy, Ross says this standalone novel let him focus on deeper character work and a strong female lead. It’s smart, suspenseful, and proudly Canadian.

🏆 Burlington Honours Its Everyday Heroes

Burlington’s community spirit shone brightly at City Hall this week as Mayor Marianne Meed Ward and council presented Civic Recognition Awards to residents making a real difference. From long-time volunteers to grassroots leaders, the evening celebrated dedication in every form.

Among the honourees were Anne and Arnold Koopman for decades of work with the city’s twin-city program, Jamie Kozub of Burlington Dads, youth advocate Kai Ruhl, and volunteer Colton Roberts. Each story reflected the kindness and commitment that keep Burlington thriving.

💈 From Haircuts to Hometown Success

When Jennifer Quong moved her family from Calgary to Burlington, she just wanted a familiar haircut. What she found instead was a new calling. Today, Jennifer owns two thriving Tommy Gun’s Original Barbershop locations, both proudly voted Burlington’s best barbershop for two years running.

More than just a business, her shops have become community hubs. From sponsoring local sports to supporting charity events, Jennifer’s journey from customer to owner shows how local passion can truly shape a city.
