🎄 Lions Club Rounds Up Holiday Highlights

Source: burlingtontoday.com
The Burlington Lions Club has packed the season with festive events for everyone. The Festival of Lights returns Nov. 28 to Jan. 7 at Spencer Smith Park, celebrating 30 years with more than 60 glowing displays along the waterfront. Downtown, the Candlelit Stroll on Nov. 29 brings live music, treats, and the lighting of the Tree of Hope at Civic Square.
At the Lions Hall on Pearl Street, there’s something nearly every weekend, from the new Jingle Market and gift wrapping station on Dec. 6 to Parade Day pop-ups with Santa, live ice carving, and a cozy seniors’ tea on Dec. 20. The month wraps up with a Holiday Hoedown that evening and a Jingle Beats Silent Disco on Dec. 21. It’s a full lineup of classic Burlington fun, all in support of community spirit.
🛒 New Supermarket may Replace Staples
With Staples preparing to leave Brantview Plaza later this month, Burlington could soon see something fresh move in. Amalie Holdings Inc. has applied for a bylaw change that would allow a grocery store to take over the space at 1181 Fairview Street, currently part of Ward 2.
While no name has been announced yet, early details hint at an ethnic-focused supermarket, bringing more international flavors to local shoppers. The proposal heads to council on December 2.

🕯️ Port Nelson Bazaar Brings Holiday Cheer

Port Nelson United Church was bustling this weekend as its beloved Christmas Bazaar returned, drawing crowds from across Burlington. Tables overflowed with pottery, glassware, and cozy collectibles, while the scent of fresh baking filled the air.
Volunteers kept the festive spirit high, from Heather Stewart at the accessories table to Andrea Battista and her baking crew serving up sweet holiday treats.
🥕 Local Masons Boost Food for Life Efforts
Members of Hamilton District A Masonic Lodges rolled up their sleeves this month to help Food for Life sort and pack rescued produce. Their $19,000 donation from a lively 1970s-themed fundraiser will translate into roughly $136,000 worth of fresh food for local families in need.
The Lodges’ hands-on help came just as the holidays approach, a time when Food for Life sees growing demand. Volunteers say seeing their efforts directly support neighbours makes the experience especially meaningful.
