🥐 Aroma Pastry Eyes Expansion

Less than two years after opening at Brant and Pine, Aroma Pastry and Cafe is already planning its next chapter. Founder Sabahat Hamidi, who previously ran a bakery in Mumbai, is building the brand with future expansion and franchising in mind, focusing on strong identity, customer experience, and standout signature items.

The pistachio croissant has become a crowd favourite, alongside Dubai chocolate croissants, seasonal specials, custom cakes, and savoury sandwiches. With fresh local ingredients and limited-time offerings keeping things exciting, this growing bakery clearly has bigger ambitions ahead.

🏗️ Lakeshore Hotel Update

A few weeks ago, we told you Burlington council approved a 25-storey hotel and condo at 2076 Old Lakeshore Rd. Now there is an update. Developer Bousefields Inc. has appealed three of the four holding provisions tied to the project to the Ontario Land Tribunal.

The appeal targets conditions related to wastewater capacity, a revised traffic study, and a Waterfront Trail extension, all of which council said must be resolved before construction begins. No hearing date has been set, leaving the future of this prominent waterfront proposal uncertain.

🚦 Burlington Drivers Urged To Stay Alert

A new study from insurance comparison site MyChoice ranks Burlington as Ontario’s second most dangerous city for drivers, based on insurance data collected between 2020 and 2025. The report shows 14.22 per cent of local drivers have at least one accident on record, with the city scoring 0.9 on the site’s five-point safety scale.

City officials say traffic remains a priority, with a new safety roundtable underway and a Community Traffic Forum set for April 1. With busy highways, cut-through traffic, and ongoing construction in the mix, it is a good reminder for all of us to slow down and look out for one another on the road.

🏃 Chilly Half Marks 30 Years

Burlington’s waterfront was buzzing as the Chilly Half Marathon celebrated its 30th anniversary outside City Hall. Since launching in 1997, the race has become one of Canada’s best-known early season half marathons, drawing about 4,000 runners and 1,500 spectators this year to mark the milestone.

Mayor Marianne Meed Ward was on hand to watch the runners cross the finish line and later shared highlights from the morning on Instagram. Congratulations to everyone who trained through winter to take part in this hometown tradition.
