📚 Appleby Library Branch Moves to New Street

The Appleby library branch is opening Monday, Sept. 15 (today) at its new home inside the Robert Bateman Community Centre. The space is three times larger than the old branch, giving the community plenty of room to read, relax, and gather.
Visitors will find more books, cozy seating, and a bright children’s area. There are also free meeting rooms, digital media studios, and even a 3D printer to explore.
🍺 Beer Store Closures Hit Burlington
The Beer Store closed 10 more Ontario locations this past Sunday, Sept. 14, including Burlington’s 2020 Appleby Line store. This was part of more than 100 closures announced since last year as the retailer faces growing competition from grocery and convenience stores. More shutdowns are planned later this fall, raising concerns about job losses and longer drives for bottle returns until new rules take effect in 2026.
🌼 Yellow Bench Unveiling at Spencer Smith Park
A new yellow bench is being added to Spencer Smith Park Pier on Monday, Sept. 29 at 10:30 a.m. The project is a partnership between Burlington’s bench program and Distress Centre Halton.
The bench is meant to get people talking about mental health and to remind the community that help is always available. It will be a bright symbol of care and support in the heart of the park.
