🏠 Market Update With Kiani & Co

As we move into January 2026, the Burlington real estate market enters the new year after a period of adjustment in 2025 - marked by normalized demand, increased inventory, and more balanced conditions overall. A natural recalibration that I believe creates opportunity rather than concern.

By the end of 2025, Burlington’s unadjusted MLS® benchmark price declined to approximately $852,100, down just over 6% year-over-year while the average sale price hovered around $1,038,600. Homes available for sale climbed 25%, pushing months of supply to 4.4 - firmly into balanced-market territory. Days on market also increased, giving buyers more time and leverage, while sellers adjusted pricing and expectations.

While 2025 closed quieter than peak years, long-term demand in Burlington remains firmly supported by its location, lifestyle appeal, and lasting desirability as we move into 2026

🎨 Opening the Door to Local Art

The City of Burlington has opened applications for its 2025 Arts and Culture Grant, offering up to $7,000 to support artists, cultural groups, and organizations creating work for Burlington audiences. It’s a practical boost for projects that help residents connect with art in their own neighbourhoods.

There’s still a chance to catch the virtual info session tonight at 8 p.m. Applications are due Feb. 2, with funded projects running from spring 2026 through early 2027.

💲 Small Savings Add Up

With everyday costs still top of mind, a couple of big national brands are rolling out changes that could make routine purchases a little easier on the wallet.

McDonald’s Canada is locking in lower prices for the next year, including $5 McValue Meals and $1 small coffees. It’s a rare price freeze at a time when fast-food costs have steadily crept up, you can read what meals qualify here.

Separately, RBC has rolled out a new rewards tie-in with Canadian Tire’s Triangle program. For the first time, linked RBC cardholders can earn triple Canadian Tire Money at stores like Canadian Tire, SportChek, and Mark’s, adding a bit of extra value to regular errands. Read how it works here.

❄️ Snow Days Mean Moving Cars

When snow starts falling, where you leave your car matters more than usual. During a declared snow event, parking on the street can get in the way of plows and often leads to tickets or towing, even if the snowfall feels minor.

For Orchard residents, the city has offered a few nearby options to park off-street during snowfalls:

🏒 Burlington Represented at the Olympics

Two familiar names from Burlington will be on one of hockey’s biggest stages next winter. Renata Fast and Emma Maltais have been named to Team Canada’s roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, bringing a bit of local pride along with them.

Both players are coming off strong seasons with Toronto and plenty of international experience, including gold medals in 2022. The Olympic tournament runs Feb. 6 to 22, and many fans around Burlington will be cheering them on.

🦴 Pet Spotlight: Meet Shawna!

Shawna is a two-year-old cattle dog wrapped in a gorgeous red/mahogany coat and powered by pure love and charm. Shawna is a social butterfly who adores people, gets along well with other dogs, and struts her stuff nicely on leash.

Her favourite things include being the centre of attention, soaking up cuddles, and reminding everyone nearby that she is very available for affection. Sweet, snuggly, and full of heart, Shawna is ready to bring joy, warmth, and wagging tails into her forever home.

Could Shawna be the missing piece in your family’s story?
