🎉 Appleby Line Festival This Sunday
Here is a quick reminder that Appleby Line is turning into a block party this Sunday, September 21, as the Appleby Line Street Festival takes over from 1 to 5 p.m. Expect live music, pony rides, a bustling kids zone, food trucks galore, and a Nickel Brook beer garden. The Burlington Teen Tour Band will be front and center at 2 p.m., setting the tone for a fun-filled afternoon.
A new highlight this year is the Dino Run, a family-friendly prehistoric themed fundraiser just before the main event. With 150 vendors and community groups lining the street, there’s plenty to discover. Do note that road closures will be in effect around the area.
🎨 Burlington Culture Days Kick Off
Burlington Culture Days return September 19 to October 12, bringing three weeks of free, interactive arts and culture events across the city. From visual arts and live performances to hands-on workshops, tours, and community projects, there’s something for everyone.
Highlights include a self-guided art and literary tour at Beachway, exhibitions at the Art Gallery of Burlington, family-friendly programs at the library, fibre arts at Ireland House, and even a cultural adventure pass from Tourism Burlington.
🏆 Nominate a Burlington Community Hero
The city is calling for nominations for its annual civic recognition ceremony, celebrating residents and business owners who reflect Burlington’s values of kindness, inclusivity, and community spirit.
Whether it’s through volunteering, innovation, or simply caring for neighbours, nominees are those making a real difference. Nominations are open until Friday, September 26, making now the perfect time to honor someone who inspires you.

🌞Record-Breaking Terry Fox Run in Burlington

Source: BurlingtonToday
Spencer Smith Park was filled with energy Sunday morning as the Terry Fox Run drew hundreds of participants under clear blue skies. By race time, the event had already raised a record $135,000, with runners and walkers taking on 5 and 10 km routes to support cancer research.
Dr. John Goffman from Juravinski Cancer Centre shared how the funds directly advance oncology research. It was a morning of community, inspiration, and hope, staying true to Terry’s legacy.
🚌 Wild Tales from Burlington Bus Drivers
Burlington Transit is celebrating 50 years on the road, and the stories from behind the wheel are as unforgettable as the passengers. Driver Gary Stafford once found himself babysitting a youngster mid-route, and another time even chauffeured a lost dog until its relieved owner arrived. He laughs that no two days were ever the same, and it certainly sounds like it.
Sue Miller, one of the city’s first female drivers, recalls dentures flying past her pedal after a passenger’s mighty sneeze, and another day helping someone reattach a prosthetic leg before reaching the hospital. Longtime driver Alan Erb remembers being part of the very first team back in 1974. Through it all, the thank-yous, small gifts, and warm smiles from riders remain the moments drivers treasure most.
