🏫 Big Improvements Ahead for Local Catholic Schools

Several Halton Catholic schools, including two in Burlington, are set for major upgrades as part of a $7.1-million investment approved by the board. Corpus Christi and Notre Dame Secondary Schools will see system overhauls, accessibility improvements, and a refreshed culinary arts space.

The funding also supports energy-efficient lighting, new roofs, and ventilation improvements in schools across Milton, Oakville, and Halton Hills. Construction is expected to boost comfort, safety, and sustainability for students and staff alike.

💪 Seniors Active Living Fair at the YMCA

The Ron Edwards Family YMCA will host a free Seniors Active Living Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests can learn simple ways to stay healthy and active as they age, with a fall-prevention workshop led by therapist Tess Ewert Zehr and a talk by Dr. George Ionnidis on how walking pace can reveal changes in strength and mobility over time.

Burlington Hydro Encourages Online Payments

With the ongoing Canada Post disruptions, Burlington Hydro is urging residents to switch to its online portal to keep payments on track. Mailed bills may arrive late, but due dates remain firm, meaning late fees could still apply. Customers can view statements and make payments through the MyBurlingtonHydro portal, a quick way to stay connected and avoid any billing hiccups while postal service delays continue.

🌿 Local Nature Stewards Receive Recognition

Conservation Halton recently gathered community members at Area 8 Conservation Area to celebrate local landowners who go above and beyond to protect the environment. Nine recipients were honoured for their conservation efforts, including sustainable farmers, eco-minded homeowners, and corporate partners like 407 ETR.

From creating pollinator habitats to restoring wetlands, each awardee showed how small actions can make a big impact. Since 1994, over 300 landowners have been recognized for preserving more than 13,000 acres of local natural spaces.

🤸 Burlington Athletes Head to World Championships

Three members of the Burlington Trampoline and Tumble Club are gearing up to represent Canada at the World Age Group and World Championships in Pamplona, Spain, from Nov. 4 to 17. Kieran Lupish, Brody Bishop, and Ella Bergeron each qualified through a series of competitions and will compete in trampoline, double mini trampoline, and tumbling events against top athletes from around the world.

Bergeron returns after recovering from a hand injury, determined to show her full routine on the floor. Bishop, just 17, will take on older competitors in his double mini category and already has his sights set on the 2028 Olympics. Lupish, now competing in the senior division, says he’s ready for the challenge of tougher routines and the excitement of representing Burlington on the world stage.
