🎨 Celebrating 50 Years of Creative Sustainability

Source: burlingtontoday.com

The Art Gallery of Burlington is marking its 50th anniversary with a three-day Sustainable Futures: Art Education Summit focused on eco-friendly art practices. The celebration begins Thursday, Oct. 16 with an online talk by author Lauren Markham, followed by in-person sessions on Friday.

On Saturday, guests will explore Indigenous history at Crawford Lake before returning for hands-on workshops that blend art, community, and sustainability.

♻️ Burlington Green’s Big Day for Old Tech

This Saturday, Oct. 18, BurlingtonGreen is teaming up with Burlington Centre for a zero-waste electronics dropoff that’s all about cleaning up our homes and helping the planet. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., volunteers will be ready to collect old computers, cell phones, batteries, and more, making it easy for residents to safely dispose of unwanted tech at no cost.

The event is part of BurlingtonGreen’s ongoing effort to promote sustainability and reduce landfill waste. Every device handed in will be responsibly recycled, preventing harmful materials from seeping into the environment and giving valuable parts a second life. It is a simple, feel-good way to tidy up, support local volunteers, and take part in Burlington’s growing green movement, all in one Saturday stop.

🌊 Gratitude and Garbage Bags at the Beach

Source: burlingtontoday.com

Sunday morning brought sunshine, teamwork, and plenty of community spirit to Burlington Beach, where BurlingtonGreen hosted a beach cleanup at their Lakeshore Road beach house. Families, friends, and volunteers of all ages came together, armed with gloves and garbage bags, ready to make a difference along the shoreline.

From cigarette butts to stray bottle caps, every bit of litter collected helped restore the beach’s natural beauty. Parents and children worked side by side, turning cleanup into connection time and proving that small actions can have a big impact. The morning wrapped up with smiles, sandy shoes, and a shared sense of pride in keeping Burlington’s waterfront clean and welcoming for everyone.
