🌳 $20 Million Green Investment
The Conservation Halton Foundation has wrapped up its largest-ever fundraising effort, the $20 million Connected Campaign. The funds will support new parkland, trail expansions, biodiversity projects, and hands-on environmental education across Burlington and the wider Halton region.
Over 150 acres of land will be newly protected, 63,000 trees planted, and thousands of youth will benefit from nature programs designed to inspire lifelong care for the environment.
🌆 Burlington Plans $105.7M Infrastructure Boost
Big changes are coming to Burlington’s roads, parks, and public spaces in 2026. The City’s proposed budget outlines $105.7 million in infrastructure investments, including major upgrades to aging roadways and park improvements, plus new funding for fire trucks, hybrid buses, and stormwater projects to help protect homes from flooding.
City officials say these investments aim to keep Burlington safe, connected, and ready for the future. Residents can review the full budget and share feedback before Council’s final decision in December.
🎶 Sound of Music Brought $1.9M Boost
This year’s Sound of Music Festival drew nearly 45,000 unique visitors and generated about $1.9 million in local spending, according to a new report from Burlington Economic Development. The estimate, based on mobile device data, reflects individual attendees over the four-day free event, not total visits, offering a more focused view than the 400,000-plus figure often cited by organizers.
The spending impact includes activity at nearby restaurants, shops, and gas stations during and after the festival. While festival organizers dispute the numbers, saying they don’t fully capture the crowd or experience, they’ve confirmed plans to apply for the city's open call to run a 2026 waterfront music event.
