Let’s work together.

🏥 Medpoint Sign Marks Milestone

A new sign at Medpoint Health Care Centre is now turning heads along the QEW, marking a visible milestone for the clinic that opened last November. The large exterior logo replaces the longtime NFP sign, giving the building a fresh identity that’s hard to miss for passing drivers.

Founded by Burlington native Alex Hanham, the clinic brings a team of doctors, specialists and kinesiologists focused on preventative care, an approach aimed at keeping patients healthier before issues arise.

With Burlington’s aging population and growing pressure on the healthcare system, the highly visible new sign feels like a fitting symbol of a service the community is likely to rely on more in the years ahead.

🏃 Expanded Recreation Support

The City of Burlington is expanding its Recreation Fee Assistance Program, aiming to make it easier for more residents to access programs this spring.

Recent updates include broader eligibility, now covering households earning up to 25 percent above the low-income cutoff, along with a simpler two-year approval process to reduce paperwork and improve consistency.

The changes also boost support for summer camps, helping families manage childcare during school breaks while keeping kids active and engaged. With affordability challenges still top of mind across Halton, the program is designed to remove barriers and ensure more residents can take part in recreation, stay healthy and feel connected in their community.

🚧 $19M Walkers Line Upgrade

A major stretch of Walkers Line is set for a significant overhaul, standing as Ward 6’s only road project in the City of Burlington 2026 budget, but with a $19.6 million price tag, it’s one of the biggest.

More than seven kilometres, from Lakeshore Road to Dundas Street, will see resurfacing, new curbs and sidewalks, upgraded lighting and traffic signals, plus storm drain improvements.

The project also includes new cycling lanes and watermain upgrades, with construction split into two phases starting this year between Dundas and the QEW, followed by the southern stretch in 2027.

🥗 $200k Food For Life Grant

A nearly $200,000 grant is helping Food For Life expand its reach across Burlington and beyond.

Funded through the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the two-year investment supported key staff roles and allowed the organization to grow its programs, marking the milestone alongside partners like Next Door Social Space.

The impact is already showing, with Food For Life now supporting more than 5,000 households each week, up from 4,500 last year, while rescuing millions of pounds of food that would otherwise go to waste. It’s a meaningful step forward for a service many local families rely on, and a reminder of how much can be achieved when community partners pull in the same direction.

🎨 Student Art for Local Care

Local students are turning creativity into impact, with young artists from the Halton Catholic District School Board showcasing their work in support of Joseph Brant Hospital.

The gallery featured 22 pieces, including standout works like “Heartstrings” and “Dream of my Hometown,” drawing attention from attendees and celebrating student talent across Halton.

The initiative, supported by a partnership between the Halton Regional Police Service and the hospital’s foundation, raises funds for mental health and addictions programs. With nearly $17,000 raised so far, the effort highlights both the generosity and creativity of local students, a combination well worth celebrating.
